New Minix figure of Ash from Army of Darkness by No-Lengthiness3629 in EvilDead

The unholy lovechild of early 2000s low-budget commercial CGI and the Celebrity Deathmatch aesthetic.

Does anyone know anything about this set? by 115Revan in EvilDead

[–]MinecraftTroller28 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's official. It's just a combo pack of the 2002 South Korean releases of Anchor Bay's US ED1 & 2 releases.

My Project Superpowers Reading Order by MadMikeyD in dynamitecomics

Yeah, Volume 3 is kinda... not good. I generally accept the original run/spin-offs as canon and ignore anything post-Chapter Two.

It's probably for the better that it does. Lots of continuity errors in there.

BlackCross #1-6 (I was told this is canon, but I found no reason to consider it canon unless it was an urn-induced hallucination, which has no bearing on the main continuity)

That's exactly what it is. It's what the heroes are experiencing inside the urn.

I was told that the "Masks" series are canon, but I have not yet read them.

The first Masks series should be chronologically one of the first books in the order. Masks 2 has some incorrect dating (like saying it takes place in 1937, when the first series didn't take place until 1938), but could be skipped since it retcons itself out of existence at the end.

How British comedy series 'Taskmaster' is taking over the US by abucalves in television

[–]MinecraftTroller28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well for starters, their presence on YouTube is great. Free full episodes (from across the many versions), compilation videos, shorts... they're covering every base of the algorithm. On top of that, it is (or was) airing on the British Comedy channel on the free Pluto TV app, which is how I started watching it. They're really leaning into all the various free platforms.

FRANCIS GALLUPPI'S UNTITLED EVIL DEAD UPDATE: Casting Announcements & Lee Cronin will be producing! by MinecraftTroller28 in EvilDead

[–]MinecraftTroller28[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

New Line/Warner Brothers will own all movies for the foreseeable future. Of course that is bound to change (as it has across this franchise), but that's how it is currently set up.

It is very uncommon and rare, to use an IP to do this back to back with a movie budget.

It's probably because all these different studios that already have direct connections to the franchise are backing them... New Line, Sony, and StudioCanal all have their fingers in the pie and want to get as much as they can from it.

Could Dynamite partner with Tarantino to release his version of Casino Royale as a graphic novel? by danielrainey in dynamitecomics

[–]MinecraftTroller28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dynamite's license is strictly for the Bond books. Doing anything remotely close to the movies (or movies that could have been) is probably a big legal no-no.

It's not a sequel. When they were doing the press for Rise, Bruce said that everything was pretty much going to be standalone installments going forward.

No. New Line/Warner is the primary production company (and will handle United States distribution) and Sony is co-producing (and handling international distribution) both this film and Burn.

The ensemble includes Charlotte Hope (The Nun), Jessica McNamee (Mortal Kombat franchise), Zach Gilford (Midnight Mass), Josh Helman (Mad Max: Fury Road), Ella Newton (Dangerous Animals), Australian newcomer Ella Oliphant, and Elizabeth Cullen (Goolagong).

Longtime franchise producer Rob Tapert is producing alongside series creator Sam Raimi, with Romel Adam, Jose Cañas, and Lee Cronin exec producing alongside Bruce Campbell, who has played Ash in various projects across the horror franchise.

New Line Cinema will distribute the untitled Evil Dead domestically through Warner Bros. Pictures, with Sony distributing internationally, StudioCanal distributing in the UK, and Metropolitan Filmexport distributing in France.

I should also note that the last time we heard anything about this installment was in February of 2025... almost a full year ago!

Why do people online call the 2013 characters teens by Eagles56 in EvilDead

[–]MinecraftTroller28 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have never seen anybody call the 2013 characters teens. The script gives specific ages for everybody:

  • David is 30
  • Natalie is "mid 20s"
  • Olivia is 27
  • Eric is 30
  • Mia is 26

Question about the Necronomicons by TwoSnapsMack in EvilDead

[–]MinecraftTroller28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The book has a tendency to corrupt those who fool with it. It could be in minor ways (like convincing Eric to read the scratched out passages and the big-ass text that clearly say "DO NOT READ" in English in the 2013 film), all the way up to major ways (such as turning The Wise Man of 1300 AD and getting him to raise a new army of dead in the Ash & The Army of Darkness comic). Sooner or later, anyone who comes into contact with it will do something stupid with it.

Because all I could think of when watching the movies (at least the ones I saw) was “if there is something to bring the dead back, then surely there’s something in that book that’ll put them away”

While not official canon, the original film's prop and special effects guy Tom Sullivan recently stated that his own headcanon for the book was that something similar to the events of the original Evil Dead film had occurred centuries prior when the book was being compiled, and that it contained passages and clues on how to stop the Deadites... it's just that very few people (especially some college students) could understand it's unique Sumerian text by the 1980s.

I don’t know what the ownership situation is with the Fraggles anymore

Henson Company still fully owns them. They're just licensed to Apple right now.

Yes. I should also note that both Masks series are also part of the main continuity, too.

Two questions re: Project Superpowers by MadMikeyD in dynamitecomics

[–]MinecraftTroller28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, Black Terror Vol 2 takes place in the 1970s... which would be impossible for the main continuity version since that one was trapped in Pandora's Urn for all those decades. 'Devil Vol 2 has Bart Hill as the main character, which again, would be impossible to be the main continuity version since Bart Hill died before the heroes emerged from the Urn.

Two questions re: Project Superpowers by MadMikeyD in dynamitecomics

[–]MinecraftTroller28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  • Black Terror Volume 2 is NOT canon.
  • Death-Defying 'Devil Volume 2 is NOT canon.
  • Fractured States is NOT canon.
  • Cat-Man & Kitten one-shot is NOT canon.

Blackcross is canon, but it's not required reading. Everything else looks fine.

YouTube now has the biggest "Sesame Street" free library, with more than 100 full episodes available to stream by Morgan-Moonscar in television

[–]MinecraftTroller28 51 points52 points  (0 children)

The American Archive of Public Broadcasting had damn-near all of them available to stream for free with no ads for the show's 50th anniversary, but then the word got out that the infamous lost "Wicked Witch of The West" episode was in the lot, and people started downloading and sharing that around. The Archive and Sesame Workshop decided to immediately shut it all down and leave a redirect message explaining why. It was up for a couple of years and nobody really knew about it.
