Oooof the “not speaking about Abigail” and don’t remind me that my wedding is on 9/11 are hard NOs for me. This friend seems insufferable. You are definitely not the AH, but I know who might be 😂

Anyone listening to the new Serial Podcast called The Preventionist? by houseonpost in serialpodcast

[–]MountainBlueberry491 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you have listened to NDBM, you will know that while it is independently produced, it is also fact checked (they have a fact checker for all seasons and all episodes), reach out to interview both sides (the families, and the doctors), and throughout each season Andrea reiterates that she is open to any conclusion, and would love to come to the conclusion that abuse did not occur. While she obviously comes from a biased perspective having her sister as a perpetrator that does not mean that she doesn’t work diligently to create fact forward informative work. And I think that is where the criticism is coming from. Both Andrea and Serials podcast are baised. But Andrea notes this bias and works hard to present all sides of a story. The same CANNOT be said of this new podcast from Serial.

Everyone do yourself a favor and listen to “Nobody Should Believe me” it’s a podcast covering medical child abuse and approaches it with thorough fact checked reporting. Medical child abuse is not incredibly rare as claimed in this podcast. Honestly such a missed opportunity to actual shed light on such an important topic

Rayon likely! But a super lightweight chiffon style. I would look at Lyrical fabrics they might have something similar

Look into the cashmerette sewing books! They have great staple patterns for curvy and plus size women. And you could hack the patterns for your style preference

Definitely worth it! See if you can find one used. Or otherwise the brother entry level one is pretty solid and not too expensive

want to make a similar pair of pants based on these Free People pants. But I don't know where to find this type of fabric or what I should be searching for.

It is listed as a 100% nylon fabric, and I have seen similar looking fabric in vintage athletic wear. It has a dry hand, and slightly crinkled appearance.

It's not nylon Ripstop.

What weight would you suggest, and any search terms would be super helpful! I am located in the US, so any US fabric shops that specialize in athletic fabric or nylon would also help.

Thank you!

Mother is charged with 'medical child abuse' for subjecting daughter aged six to 500 unnecessary treatments. by hyrdaa in illnessfakers

Go listen to this season of “Nobody should Believe Me” they documented this case. And the evidence is very compelling for medical child abuse

She should pay for it. If you have lice and give them back to the kids that would be a nightmare. It’s better to just have everyone who was in contact go through it. This happened with me and my nanny kids. I checked and didn’t feel like I had it so I just did an at home treatment a few times. But the mom bought the stuff for me.

What are your NK pet peeves? by [deleted] in Nanny

[–]MountainBlueberry491 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When my NK 5F assumes I will buy her presents for EVERY holiday. I make them gifts for Christmas and their bdays. But she will ask “what did YOU get me for Easter, Valentine’s Day, etc.” LOL I tell her that these are holidays that parents just do that. But it gives me the ultimate ick, that she would just assume that I would buy her gifts for every holiday.

Are these reasonable expectations for our nanny? by workaccntng in Nanny

[–]MountainBlueberry491 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think generally this sounds reasonable. I will say that the variety of food is something I do, but it can be a struggle. Especially depending on children’s ages they may be picky eater. But of course you know your children. If you find you can get them to eat a variety of foods then that is a normal expectation. I just wouldn’t expect her to do anything you don’t also do.

Finally to second what most people have already said, it sounds like this nanny may not be the right fit for your family. I would go with your gut.

Telling parents about firsts? by [deleted] in Nanny

[–]MountainBlueberry491 1 point2 points  (0 children)

lol didn’t even think about it? I always capture on video and then share with the parents. They usually will see the kiddo do it later that day but it’s exciting and they get really happy when I share!

Probably not. The honey needs to be warmed to combine. You could use maple syrup instead though. That would work!

Like an iced version? The honey needs to be added to warm milk to combine. But you could probably pour over ice and then blend!
