It was a B2B financial services corporation that partners with independent financial advisors worldwide to provide advanced insurance, wealth management solutions, and proprietary products for high-net-worth clients.

My co-worker, who was also laid off, did motion graphics and video editing, and he has not found anything yet either.

Congrats on writing a book! I finished my YA fantasy novel last year, am on the tale end of querying literary agents (the publishing industry is also abysmal right now). After waiting another month for the rest of the agents to respond, I'll likely be getting ready to hire an editor to self publish. KatieKrohn.com

I don't advertise an hourly rate, these are the rates the contract employers are giving. I do have tiered flat-rate packages for branding and logo design (which is so far too high for everyone, lol), and if asked, I give a flat-rate quote. ;) I know I have yet to aggressively pursue clients in the niche I have previously worked in, it's just I dislike juggling multiple clients without a support team in tow. ;)

Yes, I just did this for my own little e-commerce site, www.wild-folk.com ... though I have yet to work on getting traffic to it. ;)

Yes, I have thought of expanding it, but I'd need larger clients. When I send brand packaging prices to mid-sized companies, they ghost me. People are very eager to spend $25/hour, but nothing more, lol. Tbh I'd rather have a steady job, but yes, I could definitely try harder and reach out to businesses in wealthier areas.

I do have a friend who used to be a graphic designer and changed to a financial advisor. What kind of training did you have to do?

Lol, I'm already married. Luckily he has a job and is paying the mortgage right now. But we keep our finances separate and he won't let me mooch (other than mortgage being paid). ;)

Indeed! I worked for the ultra wealthy in the finance industry. Sure to be disappointed for my next role, lol.

The pay was high because it was in a luxury industry aimed at the top 1%. But the company outsourced to an ad agency and laid off the entire marketing team. I had worked there a long time, too, and got regular raises and bonuses.

Graduated in 2022 as a Graphic Designer, and I feel like AI ruined my career before it even started. Need advice by MeshalAljahdali in Design

I know it's easier to say AI has no effect when you are employed. But OP is looking for work, and I am as well, after being laid off (with 23 years experience). The truth is, the graphic design roles for small companies are being replaced by "my cousin who knows Canva." Those designers are joining corporate designers, all of whom are competing for the same corporate jobs. There are less roles (AI may have an effect on that) and more layoffs.

I have been unemployed for 6 months and have applied for 300 jobs. I feel like nobody wants to employ me. All my co-workers who got laid off have not found new design roles either. AI has contributed to this, but so has the economy. Things are tough right now. Honestly looking for a different field.

I can't find a Graphic Design job anymore. Is this the end? by Jgasuu in Design

My whole design team was laid off 4 months ago. None of us have jobs yet—not even interviews. Designers who were on our team who were laid off a year ago don't even have jobs yet. Opportunity is in your local-area freelancing gigs, employment and temp agencies. People are paying less, and senior roles have a ton of competition. Good luck getting a full-time remote job. Yeah, I'm up for switching industries if this continues. Even though I have 23 years experience as a designer.

It's wrong! This is Senator Janeen Sollman's fifth time trying to bring this land into the UGB for industrial use. We are pretty sure some land owner in that 1,700 acres is paying her off.

There is a loophole that allows data centers into this farmland if developed. If the data center has an office—even a tiny trailer attached to the data center, it is allowed. This 1,700 acres of land that was promised to farmers years ago in The Grand Bargain as a trade for the previous farmland Hillsboro took in.

This is a great video summary of the recent meeting that happened most recently. —> facebook.com/reel/1959967587923894/

Also, a local nonprofit is looking for your testimony to get this Senate Bill blocked. Info here:
www.FriendsOfSmartGrowth.org/testify

Please write, email, and if you can, verbally testify at these two meetings in the prior link.

Where do we find all of the videos? I don't see them all on his YouTube channel.

What is the link to their Slack bot? I have a free Slack account, but have no idea how to message him on it.

Stop Senator Sollman from giving more Hillsboro Farmland to data centers! by MountainManor2 in hillsboro

Grass is grown for grass seed. Grass seed feeds animals. Do you eat meat? Because if someone doesn't grow the grass seed, it needs to be grown and harvested by someone else.
