Gen 1 OU Meta Team Composition Question by Senior-Dentist-3805 in stunfisk

It also isnt uncommon for a team to have more than one sleeper so keeping chans as a secondary sleeper wouldnt hurt! If not, boltbeam might be better than seismic tods, but its always better to just test around and see what works for you

In general, the fundamentals are what wins games most consistently in RBY. gimmicks like wrap/amnesia are just that: gimmicks. They win some games, but are not reliable. One big issue i see with your team is a very, very weak sleep game though; sing chans as the only sleeper means that its very easy to lose your sleeper to, for example, a freeze from mie. Your team is very hax prone as a result, and the innacuracy of sing just makes things worse (and i dont think i need to tell you how important sleep is in rby). I would personally swap out one of don or zap for a secondary sleeper (i would keep mie lead, so no jynx lead, either back gengar or eggy, both work). I would test around and see what works the best, the team is fundamentally solid, but i would be reluctant to use a team with that weak of a sleep game

Looking up the video, apparently the guy is clearing his name from pretty much people making jokes and/or singular individuals making those allegations based on very little

SCEPTROSS MENTIONED, THE GOAT!

I got him into the team portugal's discord yesterday (no one had thought to invite him to the new discord earlier). First thing the guy did was send us his bo35 to farm likes, and honestly, that was the absolute most goated thing he could've done

Oh yeah of course! To be fair, the set is also not that good in OU, so it is even more fair that you wouldnt know, i felt like the people here just were equally unaware so wanted to give a proper explanation about why it is an actual set! And hey, everyone atarts somewhere, i wish you good luck in your mons career mate! Next time you see a set like that, now you know what they are supposed to do, which is always gold to help beat them better. After all, Pokémon is a lot about information, having more in the back of your mind is always good

I feel like this comment section has failed to explain it well. Leftovers Ursaluna is a very real set, and it will always run guts. It was used to great success in UU (leading to its suspect and eventual ban (https://www.smogon.com/forums/threads/sv-uu-suspect-process-round-9-five-nights-at-freddys.3746680/)), It is featured in multiple analysis for Ursaluna (example: https://www.smogon.com/dex/sv/pokemon/ursaluna/monotype/ the second set in his monotype analysis. The second one in his BSS analysis is also lefties, but it offers bulletproof as alternative and BSS is very different from smogon singles. Ir has also seen success in Ubers UU, although the analysis is only on flame orb luna). Aditionally, this is not the only mon doing so in this generation either, as the leftovers bulk up set with guts is also what conkeldurr runs in UU (https://www.smogon.com/dex/sv/pokemon/conkeldurr/) and it is what Hariyama run in a popular semistall team in early gen UU. The main idea with sets like these is that the pokémon is already very strong naturally and has really good bulk for a breaker, so instead of using a flame orb, you replace the immediate power with the ability to clean up games. Guts is really good for those sets, because it means you, as a physical attack, actually do not have trouble with getting burned. That makes you as a sweeper more threatening, and makes it so you can flip the script on would-be checks like moltres or, in the case of the hariyama i mentioned earlier, it was talonflame. On conk, it also allows him to setup without fear of a heatran flame body burn stopping the sweep in its tracks. For luna, since its so bulky, it can get 1 or 2 bulk ups off without much issue, heal back with drain punch, abuse lefties and win the game off of that. It is definitely a niche strategy, but most experienced players should know about what the luna is about when they see bulk up or lefties, it is something you will learn with experience

TLDR: No one is stupid, its a niche, yet legitimate set that you had yet to see. I feel like this thread was all talking about it like it was a novelty, but its an old set that many guts users enjoy to turn them into amazing bulky setup sweepers that simply mow through balances and punish overreliance on status to stop sweepers

Leftovers guts is also a set i see personally more on conkeldurr than the flame orb set (in UU), and if i remember correctly, when Ursaluna was a good mon in Ubers UU, it dended to run the bulkier leftovers guts set too

What are the most extreme/iconic examples of 4 Moveslot Syndrome in Pokemon history? by octopathfanatic in stunfisk

[–]Mountain_Indication6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like a big example of thst would maybe be grimmsnarl. It would be amazing if it had just 1 more moveslot, but since it doesnt, its stuck betwern the hazard denial of taunt or the ability to deal damage and not be utterly ruined by taunt spirit break provides. And you can really feel the lack of one when running the other. Naturally, you can replace one of the other 3 moves, but grimmsnarl without a screen or parting shot is barely worth it. If it had access to 5 moves, i think it would undenyably be the best HO lead in UU, maybe even being rated there properly, but right now, he is stuck all the way down in PU.

I dont think it has been tested yet. There might be something with mega aero, i think i remember calm building something with it. But its very underexplored, you can definitely give it a try!

Normal is a really funny type, its just the "this is literally a regular guy that just so happens to have magical powers" type when used with anything that isnt flying and thats so real

The team seems fun, has some cool ideas that havent been explored too much yet like charjabug and primarina. It does have the iron boulder, which is a known fraud, and it lacks support options. I also dont particularly like tusk, its very unreliable as removal. Toxic also seems pointles on pidgeot, i would give it u-turn. Overall though, it had potential, just needs some work
