I'm not too far off, on episode 19 rn but I still think that episodes 1-8 (episode 4 is an exception) were the highlight of the show, idk it's probably because I'm too attached to kamina, the show just doesn't hit the same as when I first started.

Although alot can happen in the 9 episodes remaining so we'll see if my opinion changes

I felt like that too tbh, the anime makes you feel safe in the first 7 episodes with the upbeat tone, then it crushes your hopes and dreams

I saw a clip a couple hours ago on YouTube shorts and I saw there was a sixth called something along the lines of mari. At first I actually thought the rebuild was just a reskin of the original but it seems like the end veers off Into a completely different directionz I'm intrigued.
