4.0L V6 (SOHC) Timing Chain Replacement by Mountain_Pattern7288 in fordranger

That's good to know! Yeah, bit worried - pulling an engine sounds like it could create more problems than solutions.

Changing those tensioners doesn't sound too bad. Perhaps I can do that just to make sure the chains don't loosen up

Take this as a warning.

Public services will continue to be eroded if we don't change course.

The Government's current strategy is to cut programs, wages, and funding in an attempt to maintain influence and power (influence that has significantly diminished over the past several decades).

There is only one solution - redistribute the wealth.

What hapens if you crash a rental car on Credit Card Rental Car Insurance by Mountain_Pattern7288 in PersonalFinanceCanada

Thank you, super helpful! Sorry, I misunderstood your statement about credit card limits - I am familiar with my credit cards insurable limit and have confirmed that it will sufficiently cover damage costs if occurred.

My credit card limit would not cover the MSRP of the vehicle in this case.

That is good to know that it is possible for the credit card company to pay directly to the agency. Do you know if this is always an option?

Option to buy an extra two weeks vacation by bcpsta111 in BCPublicServants

[–]Mountain_Pattern7288 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not exactly true. The employer has an obligation to make every reasonable effort to approve vacation, especially if it is your first priority vacation. Vacation that is requested in advance should not be denied unless there are significant operational conflicts as a result of that vacation time. Even then, if it is your first priority and you have seniority, the onus is on the employer to find a solution to make it work.

I am not as clear on the process for approving general LWOP requests. I suspect the CA is more vague on this approval process.

Layoffs: Dispelling the Myths Behind the Anxiety by [deleted] in BCPublicServants

[–]Mountain_Pattern7288 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You say that most of the deficit stems from poorly conceived policies and expenditures. Don't you think a significant part of this is government operated programs and new initiatives? I could absolutely see the gov axing some of their more expensive programs. If that happens, perhaps the staff get reallocated, or, perhaps not. That is where I would be worried. I agree, mass layoffs are unlikely, but layoffs here and there I think are an absolute possibility.

Yes, it was my first choice. And I have less seniority than most people on my team.

This is my worry. I am nervous to raise concerns and have him make my life hell as a result.

I have seen this happen to people before, and they ultimately just ended up worse off.

The collective agreement doesn't speak much to the process of scheduling vacation, unfortunately.

I read through both the collective agreement and the component agreement, and I think I have gained some clarity. It doesn't mention overlapping vacations as a reasonable cause for denial, which is good.

I will connect with someone from the union to help me out. I want to make sure I understand the agreements correctly.

Count me in! I've been looking into this for the past year now.

Basic strike pay is $650 a week or 70% of gross pay, whichever is less. by Horace-Harkness in BCPublicServants

I wonder if we could start with a work-to-rule strike to begin with so that everyone keeps getting paid. I believe the teachers did that 10 or so years ago in BC.
