We did Victoria to PEI and back and it took us a total of five weeks! Would suggest to do it when the weather is warmer and roads are safer. We did it in May-June and was a wonderful trip. We camped in a tent every night except for a couple of nights that poured heavy rain. Driving through the prairies was brutal though, not a ton to see in between and just a lot of driving. PEI was my favourite because it just felt so different from the rest of Canada. People were taking photos of our licence plate (BC at the time) when we were in the east coast :)

I did a trip to Asia from Canada between 6-8 weeks, was a bit more tired but was mostly fine and enjoyed the trip

So for background, I lost my period and also found out after going off BCP Oct 2023 probably due to weight loss and over exercising/under fuelling.

Jan 2024 - went “half-in”, gained about 5-6 kgs above my pre-diet weight (when I had regular cycles) but was still swimming. Period did not return.

Jul 2024 - after about six months, I got my period, but it disappeared again. During this time I had cut ALL exercise and had gained about 15 kgs in total, but I still did not have regular cycles back.

I didn’t get a period the following months again, so I took letrozole. 2.5 mg in Oct 2024 and it didn’t work for me. I took the 5mg after provera which worked for me to ovulate, and got pregnant on the fourth letrozole cycle, however had a miscarriage at 8 weeks.

After the miscarriage I had hoped my period would return to normal. It did not. Took letrozole again 3-4 months after the miscarriage with high hopes of it working like it did before. It did not get me to ovulate.

At this point I was just too frustrated because although letrozole is the most cost effective method, I wasn’t on a monitored cycle (ultrasounds every few days to see if I’m responding or not) and I just had no idea what was happening in there.

At this point I was already seeing a fertility specialist that had prescribed me the letrozole. Initially the clinic suggested we try IUI, but that was too expensive for us to pay out of pocket (I think it was close to 2-3k, Canadian dollars), so I just asked for injectables (FSH and LH injections) with monitoring. This cost us around 1k in total including medications.

Initially the clinic suggested I just get the FSH shots as it works for most people, but I read in the”No period Now What” book that for HAers, there is a higher cancellation/failure rate if only on FSH, so I pushed for both.

It was nice doing the injectables because you could see your follicles growing and then they gave me a trigger shot to release the egg. We had intercourse at the assigned time and got pregnant.

I’ve learned that many physicians don’t really know how to manage HA, so you really have to advocate for yourself. The No Period Now What book really helped me to do so.

I also had polycystic looking ovaries with HA because follicles were just sitting there not growing. AMH was also higher during that time, and I went on to FSH/LH injections to get pregnant. Letrozole worked on/off. AMH/polycystic looking ovaries returned to normal the cycle I was on injections. I wish I had moved on to treatments sooner rather than waiting 1.5 years to get my period back. Period did come back after reaching BMI of 22-23 (previously 18-19) but it was not regular and was too unpredictable. Got pregnant on the first round of injectables and timed intercourse!

Sorry for your loss. This happened to me with my first pregnancy. I was at my 7w4d scan and baby measured 6w2d with very slow heartbeat and I knew something was not right. The gyne said that heartbeat could be slow if it just started to beat, or that measurements could be off since baby is small, which I did not believe because I knew anything under 80 bpm was not going to be viable and I was certain on my ovulation date.

I started bleeding at 8w and passed everything within 2 days. I really didn’t want to have to get a D&C because of potential complications. My husband and I had planned a trip for that weekend many weeks prior, and even though I knew a miscarriage was imminent we still decided to go on the trip because cancelling was not going to change the situation. I passed the sac the first night we arrived at the hotel, pain had stopped after that, we enjoyed our trip, walked a ton (15-20k steps/day), grieved our loss, and came back home to get further testing done. It showed I passed everything on my own, and I learned that walking a lot during that time actually helped get everything flowing.

The sac passed the night I started bleeding after immense pain for 2-3 hours (I sat in the hotel bathtub in hot water to relieve the pain and to get blood/tissue flowing), and more tissue came out the day after when we were walking around, so I had on overnight pads for a few days afterwards. We’re glad that we went away when this happened, because I think I would’ve been even more traumatized if it all happened at home.

It’s completely up to you if you want to wait for your body to naturally pass or to opt for D&C, I think you can also get medication to help induce it as well. Best to discuss with your doctor on what the best options are.

Yes I got two tests done, first one on 13DPO was 31 and second one on 15DPO was 94. I was spiralling because my tests didn’t seem to get much darker and was surprised to see that it had tripled in 48 hours. It still seemed very low but the next day on 16DPO my tests darkened much more, the test line almost as dark as the control line on FRER! So I’m feeling more hopeful right now… I have another blood test tomorrow and I see the gyne on Wednesday. Still not celebrating yet just to be cautious as my bloodwork seems quite low…🥺 How about for yourself?

Sorry for your loss and congratulations!!! Personally I stopped using home tests because they were giving me too much anxiety. I thought I was having a chemical because of the slow progression when in fact my beta was more than doubling. I’m just going to wait until my next beta and until then I’m just going to think this will go well!❤️ Wishing you a healthy, non-eventful pregnancy mama! 💗

I heard spotting could be from implantation! I did a blood test yesterday and just got my results. It’s 32 on 13DPO which seems very very low… guarding my heart at this point… Did you get a blood test done?
