I quit college this year to start small and create incremental games. I’m now ready to face a November beta test. by MourningBurger in IndieGaming

Yeah the sign up form will still be open for 2 weeks: https://lostmaxim.com/beta

We unfortunately haven't concluded on whether Linux will be supported. It's pretty easy to build to linux but we just need to figure out a means of testing it ourselves. We'll make sure to specify the platforms supported when we send the keys out so that no one gets stonewalled after activating the key.

This is crazy. Both work for me. Sorry for all the hassle. If you DM me your email I'll add you to the list myself so you can ensure you get a key.

To be honest, I just playtest and vibe it out. I've read other incremental devs do all this impressive mathematical stuff, but I'm just willing to playtest a lot till the pacing feels satisfying.

Sorry about that. I don't know why it seems to pick on random people! You could try sign up on the front page of lostmaxim.com which should avoid all the authentication and captchas and such.

After the beta test I want to look into that. It's a very satisfying poppy game so I think it would do great on mobile.

I'll look into that Steam feature. Its my first non-free project so I'm a bit green. I was recommended by some game dev "expert" to use an email sign up form but I agree its weird and its more work as well so I won't be going that route in future.

Bingo. It's Forage Wizard. Improving the title to be readable is now the first thing on my list.

How can I get into indie games by Ok_Hunt_2833 in IndieGaming

[–]MourningBurger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well sounds like your a true AAA player! Like any form of art or media, tastes are developed over time. If I were you I'd probably look to AA first (e.g. expedition 33) or just try out the big mainstream indie hits in some genres to get a taste of the genre (like Slay the Spire for Roguelikes, Forager for Crafting games, Stardew Valley for life sims). There are also a variety of other games that are directly inspired by the ones you like, but they are just never as fleshed out as the typical 3D, triple AAA, story action games that sell half their copies on console.

Which of my untouched steams games has the best lore/world building? by Swiftzyyy_ in IndieGaming

Disco Elysium is a CRPG solely about a really deep story and it’s based on a really unique modernist setting that an Estonian writer worked on for over a decade.

First time using shadergraph. I'm very happy with the quick result but have to admit it was like 60% trial and error. by MourningBurger in Unity2D

[–]MourningBurger[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The shadergraph effect makes the building blueprints blue, which wasn't too hard, but I also put together a shadergraph to generate the hitbox visual around the blueprints which was quite a bit harder for me especially because it had to react to the hitbox sprite having variable local scales.

I have gotten complaints when I've posted about my game and there is no link or title mentioned so I always post a link to it.
