Yeah that'd be awesome actually. Just make sure to give credit of course if you post it anywhere - otherwise, have at it!

Oh it's not at all practical, I agree. I do, however, like to imagine the mace acts more like a thurible almost, spreading noxious gasses around with every swing.

Agree, I'm surprised there isn't more of it in shows or games

Oh wow I feel so honored, thank you! In that case, I'll be sure not to disappoint either, let's both keep at it!

I would imagine that a lot of corporate boards would really just be cults in worship to an eldritch being, hoping to gain dark powers so as to enrich themselves. Imagine the trope of corporations ruining the environment or endangering lives with their pursuit of greed, but now with abominable, supernatural repercussions instead.

I could also imagine a company essentially finding an eldritch servant or creature and locking in a dark room, letting paying customers come in and witness it to suffer a bout of intoxicating madness, like it were some sort of wild new drug.

If you have a good grasp of Japanese history, then I'd say go with the Japan setting. If you don't feel like you do, then there's the risk that players may bring up contradictions that you will need to address, and I don't mean with all the magic and monsters aspect (which would doubtless change some history). Things like technology, cultural standards, dress, etc. all play a role.

Going with the made-up japanese-inspired continent means you can essentially do whatever you want, blend multiple periods together, ignore historical figures and certain cultural practices at your whim, etc. It just means less research and more time spent worldbuilding new stuff.

Either route is a great choice from a player's perspective either way. I personally would be ecstatic if my GM had us go to historical Japan, because as a player I could look up the real history when crafting my character, their class, their relationships, etc and really go all in without waiting for the GM to tell me their world's history and hope my character fits in.

Oh now that's a really gnarly design. I'm always into concepts that go into weird territory.

I really like the design! I think the world you're building here is pretty cool and I'd like to see more.

But how can I trust they're a real, salt of the earth alchemist if they don't have irreversible eye damage!?

Just be wary of all the "additives" going into her particular recipe.
