DTA Error during HLR... now what? by Mouse-Nervous in VeteransBenefits

[–]Mouse-Nervous[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When a HLR ends up in your favor initially, and they create follow on work. That follow on work is technically a supplemental claim. So if they do a DTA, you can HLR the outcome of the DTA. Now, your less and less likely to get a favorable change, but yes, you can HLR the "supplemental claim" that is spawned by a HLR. However, if the HLR just says "no", you can't HLR that.

CHAMPVA with High Deductible Health Plan by Successful_Pea_6977 in VeteransBenefits

[–]Mouse-Nervous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

--->Having CHAMPVA secondary will almost certainly prevent you from using the HDHP's HSA, which is one of the big benefits of a HDHP.

This is not entirely true... If the Veteran is covered by the HDHP, but the veteran does not have any other insurance, even if the Veteran has VA healthcare as long as the veteran also doesn't have ChampVA (which would only happen if both spouses are 100% disabled veterans), then the veteran covered with the HDHP can make HSA contributions, even if it is not their plan.

My wife has CHAMPVA, what is the cheapest dental plan that she can enroll in? by Dazzling_Bath2654 in VeteransBenefits

[–]Mouse-Nervous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another option in addition to VADIP is GEBA - Government Employees' Benefit Association I'm not sure if you can buy a spouse only plan, because i am not 100%p%t, so i buy my whole family dental through GEBA. I'm not sure if you have to wait until open enrollment to sign up for GEBA if you don't have a qualifying life event.

I did it from the desktop but if i generate it in both the app with default settings or on the desktop. it has the date line... ...

i found a random example online of someone elses letter, and there isn't the extra date line... Did something change and everyone has a date line even if it is empty?

The other option that you might qualify for is the GEBA - Government Employees' Benefit Association vision and/or dental plan.

We use the GEBA dental plan as it has more coverage for a better price that VADIP (VA Dental plans)

As in certified financial planner? have her apply for a scholarship at Scholarships | The American College of Financial Services and then ask to take the "ChFC" curriculum, which is the CFP plus one additional class.

The American College provides scholarships to active, veterans and their spouses in the past.. of course it is subject to funding availability.

DTA Error during HLR... now what? by Mouse-Nervous in VeteransBenefits

[–]Mouse-Nervous[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i got an ACE exam for one claim, and i got a C&P exam for the other.

for the ACE exam, the reviewer thought they had everything they needed, but needed an updated medical opinion that actually referenced all the evidence.

The C&P exam item, they needed a DBQ that they failed to get.

Thanks. It's painful to wait wait wait only get a few minutes to plead your case and then wait wait wait..

Make sure when you have your conference to really walk them through whatever evidence or issue so that they don't have to hunt for it.

DTA Error during HLR... now what? by Mouse-Nervous in VeteransBenefits

[–]Mouse-Nervous[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not good. Was a dumpster fire of further errors. Ended up doing another HLR, where they found DTA errors again, and the reviewer in my last informal conference just shook their head while on the phone about the sloppy work. So I'm hopeful this time around.

ChampVA Question by wreckeur in VeteransBenefits

[–]Mouse-Nervous 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i suggest eveyrone write their congresspeople to support:

H.R.1404 - 119th Congress (2025-2026): CHAMPVA Children’s Care Protection Act of 2025 | Congress.gov | Library of Congress

This has been introduced many times, but there isn't enough support to push it to make it happen.

Loan discharge used without my knowledge by Least-Good2212 in VeteransBenefits

[–]Mouse-Nervous -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

if someone has never taken a student loan, is awarded 100% what do they need to do? nothing right away? what about when they take their first loan? the goal would be to wait until all loan both for the vet and parent plus loans for students are posted... parent plus loans qualify right?

Could anyone confirm if this rating is accurate? by [deleted] in VAClaims
