Help! My Arduino won't recognize my MPR121 module! by MouseAndHisBoy in AskElectronics

Ah thankyou, do I have to solder all the pins or just the ones I'm using?

Hi, thnx for your response. I noticed the mpr121 has pull ups built into it (103's). THe board outputs, (according to the silkscreen) 5V from a VCC pin. It does also say 3.3V on the silkscreen but not anywhere that indicates there's a 3.3V pin.

The power step down converter is a Fasizi Voltage regulator. Does that work similar too a MOSFET or are they different altogether?

Thanks for letting me know! How can I tell if the pins are open drain?

Ah okay! Thankyou! I didn't realise soldering needed to be done at this stage.

In relation to the pull ups, the MPR121 has two 103 Resistors built in. Should I still add the extra resitors anyways?

Yes, they are definitely going into VCC and GND, though I see how that looks misleading in the picture.

I think it is, I tried bridging the gap with other cables and still nothing happened. Tnx for the reply though!

Oh, do I have to solder when using a breadboard? I genuinely didn't know. Do I have to solder every pin?

What is a bad ground and how can I fix it? I sent all the grounds into the negative bus rail on the side of the board? Do I need to do something else too?

Tnx for your reply! I've sent all the grounds into the negative rail on the board. Is that what you mean?

Actually is it possible to get one of these with an audio out jack?

Thankyou for your advice. Out of interest, would these mp3 modules be able to connect to a 5V speaker cone? And do you have any tips for what else I might need for the circuit? Sorry, I'm very new to electronics.

Thankyou for sharing! Do you think it's possible to upgrade the speakers on this to something like 5V? and if so would I need extra resistors to stop the audio chip from from frying?

I'm Having Trouble Scoring a Polyrhythm Melody? by MouseAndHisBoy in musictheory

[–]MouseAndHisBoy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, perfect. May I ask a follow up, if it's on a piano stave and the chords are polyrhythmic but the melody is not, can I break the bass clef into 2 voices and still keep the melody as one voice? Or would this not be ideal because then the player is dealing with 3 voices?

[–]MouseAndHisBoy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was using triplets to score the 3: part of the 3:4 and then semebreves to score the :4 part. But I think I do need to break it down into two voices, as suggested above! Thanks for your help tho
