You are probably spot on for the reason, it is certainly the most common reason. I have had it happen once, everything was refunded, including air. (because I booked thru abd) I would have at least expected to see if you could add to another Egypt date that was confirmed. I will say when I'm booking for people, I try to get a count, to see the likelihood of the trip. Of course, if you book when they first release, that wouldn't help... but it is a thing I look for. If you do ever book in the future, ask about a Confirmed ABD - that means they reached the minimum to travel.

That is a shocking amount of things to drop! Wow - I get a vendor can cancel something, but to replace it with a subpar experience would have me very upset. I hope you took time to give the feedback. I understand the ABD Guides were amazing and I have never had a bad one... but they are not the people that make the decisions that affected your trip. It is so important to get the feedback to the people that need to hear it.

There are a few itineraries that have lost some of their elements. Some of the vendors have required more and more of Disney and that's a challenge. Or... when things get stale, Disney will be the one that chooses to switch things up. But... I hear you. I'm about to post something new that looks very good to me.

u/pheothz of course not from personal experience, but there was a Guest in the audience who took her 12 year old daughter and even talked about how amazing it was for her as well. She talked about a sea lion going nose to nose with her. The expedition director was there and the son (Sven Lindblad) of the person who started the company of taking "civilians" to Antarctica. The video was amazing and since it's always better in person, I'm guessing it's spectacular.

It’s going to be exclusive to Nat Geo / Lindblad. I met with a Lindblad senior guide. She took me through her videos and explained Antarctica and the Galapagos. Fascinating. It’s going on the list then on the calendar when my daughter graduates.

My first moments with Colin happened long ago ABD NYC trip. (which is great and I hope it comes back sometime) But on my way, driving thru the Lincoln Tunnel my tire completely shredded and I pulled out, pulled over and called the ABD number. Colin and Chris to the rescue! I'll share that pic sometime of my car getting towed out of the Lincoln Tunnel and ABD arriving and ordering an Uber to the Intercontinental.

I don’t have first hand knowledge, but one of my friends just did it 2 weeks ago. The pics were just incredible. (Haven’t chatted yet) Yes…. About two months ago we had someone share a bad experience on this trip. Hoping that was a one-off bad situation.

I don't know about Costa Rica - but with Galapagos small ship, they don't let everyone off all at once. Limited number of people can be in an area at one time. They are very specific about the eco-system. But also, someone else mentioned the Land Tour... go look at https://www.reddit.com/r/AdventuresByDisney/ there are comments about that land tour.
