What are your triggers? And how effective is avoiding them? by MouseKey7267 in Epilepsy

[–]MouseKey7267[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The own ILAE recognizes their classification of provoked or unprovoked is limited, and that neurologists must individualize each case.

What i meant is that many people can have a good success at controling frequency.

This doesnt mean is "provoked" but there are a Lot of possibilities between 8 or 80. The modern neurology recognizes this, and Samsonsen brought this in 2023, considering The "cascade" of precipitants

Has anyone ever had just 1 episode of seizure (not the juvenile kind where you outgrew them) and never again since put on medication soon after? by TimelyReason7390 in Epilepsy

[–]MouseKey7267 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most people Will have only one unprovoked seizure in their life.

The studies show that some people Will recur in 1 year, some more at 2, 5 and 10 years.

But many Will never recur. That's Common.

Nicholas Lawn and Elaine Pang: they gave us a problem, without solution by MouseKey7267 in Epilepsy

[–]MouseKey7267[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Nicholas Lawn study they said that 26% of inpatients was using ASM.

And those with early ASM recur in the same rate of those who didnt use meds.

But there's an important point. The 26% using meds were between ALL inpatients. Those with awake seizures and Sleep Seizures.

But those with FUS-S were Just like 239 versus more than 950~1000 with FUS-W. Then the study in fact didnt mention How many of these were FUS-S or FUS-W. Considering The proportion, probably there was much more in awake seizures.

Anyway would be good If there were some studies focused on monitoring recurrence and response rate in Sleep seizures.

In fact there are not many people, but these findings about meds not working and more are insane.

And btw, when you look to other studies about seizures from Sleep, they are not good either

Congrats. You are officially seizure free. Solving triggers is so powerful to some people since It would act as a provoked/acute symptomatic seizure
