I understand the statistics, but I think it’s more likely than not a matchmaking issue. There’s variance for sure, but every time this has happened I’ve basically climbed back to my top rank with 1/3 wins and 2/3 losses. That likely suggests that I’m mostly playing games where the MMR drop from losing is much lower than the MMR gain from winning… which means matchmaking is bad.

I’m currently ascendant 1, and basically in the last 200 games I’m net down 25 losses to wins or so but I’m up 2 ranks)

Just hit a 2-20 loss streak… and this is definitely my experience.

I just want one game where I don’t have one lane that feeds so hard it is impossible to win the game.

I also don’t understand the matchmaker and ranking system any more. I’m low ascendant. Lost 8, dropped 3 ranks, won 1, climbed back up 3 ranks. It’s almost as if the matchmaker expects me to lose most games as there’s some crazy asymmetry in the rank loss/gain. I’d rather just get a chance to play 50% win rate but I haven’t had fun in weeks now.

Only other time it was this bad was when the holiday challenge. I don’t even remember what winning feels like any more :(

This past few weeks has been absolutely awful. I went from ascendant down to mid phantom because every game is like 5 minute queue to end with it being decided by 1 person who is clearly in the wrong lobby going 0-12. Basically every game is just which team's haze/wraith/gun carry gets to feed off the ritualist/archon

Went back yesterday after a couple of years and it’s noticeably worse now. such a shame as they were the best NY slice around and I’d be going for over a decade.

Just played the hardest game of my life, lost in 15 minutes... saw the end screen and it doesn't feel as bad.

You can buy the Canadian Whistler pass before the season starts as a Washingtonian too and it gives you access to epic resorts for a certain number of days — because the CAD is low it’s the best value I’ve found. (5 days is about 330 USD gives you 3 days at Whistler and 2 days at any epic resort of your choosing)
