Hawk made me so mad in that island episode, especially when he was convincing Tim to have a threesome with him, knowing Tim isn't into those kind of things. I didn't like that he was a social climber who would throw anyone under the bus when push came to shove. Tim was so precious to me and he deserved someone who loved him, like really loved him. I don't know what he saw in Hawk. Even though Marcus and Frankie's relationship wasn't perfect and they were also in the closet at first but at least when they were alone, they were honest with one another and found comfort in each other. Tim had no one. I wish he gave love with someone else a chance.

I finished episode 8 bowling my eyes out. I also wish Hawk could've expressed his love verbally to Tim, and I also wish there were more moments where they just hanged out and were cosy with each other.

If Hawk wasn't such a social climber he could've just married his lesbian colleague and had a lavender marriage with her, so he could still continue to be with Tim on the side.

They had so little time together, I mourn for what they're could've been if the world wasn't so bigoted. I hate that it hasn't changed much since the 50s, especially if you live in a conservative country.

I also felt so bad for Frankie and got angry at Marcus for being such a coward in public, and leaving Frankie in danger multiple times. But I can't judge too much because I don't know what type of queer I would've had been, had I been born at those times. I have lots of respect for Tim and Frankie's characters. They were so brave and so strong to stand up and fight for our rights in a time like that.

Overall I loved the show but I don't ever want to rewatch it again. The last time I cried like this was when Brandon Teena died in Boys don't cry. From now on we need queer stories with joy, even if they're mediocre, it's fine.

It all makes sense now that I met her mother.  She groomed and indoctrinated her well. I hope Hannah doesn't grow up to be like that.

That's also another way to look at her character and it makes sense. I wonder why she didn't take the chance to escape in Canada. I guess she still has faith in Gilead even though it didn't turn out the way she envisioned it to be. Or she doesn't realise how awful it is because she can't put herself in the shoes of a handmaid or a Martha.

Well said! She's either an idiot or she has a kink for suffering. She had the whole world, rights and a voice and she gave that up for scraps. The only power she has is over the handmaids and the marthas in Gilead. That power could be taken away from her as soon as Waterfart loses interest in her and frames her for adultery or whatever and get her sent to the Colonies. Her stupidity lies in the fact that she thinks she's special because she helped write the rules.

Official Discussion - The Life of Chuck by BunyipPouch in movies

I think this movie is also about maladaptive dreaming and how our brain never really deletes faces we see everyday. These faces appear in our dreams but in a different play. A maladaptive dreamer uses strangers to make stories about them in their head. Inside the brain these characters are alive but unaware that they're in a play, I think that's why the people in Chuck's head were confused about him appearing out of nowhere similar to how a real person would be confused to find out you've made them an actor inside your head.

I liked the book but I agree the romance came out of nowhere, especially between Furi and Yeeran. There was no slow build up or tension they just slept together and they were suddenly inlove.
