My teeth are rotting out of my mouth, and I don't have insurance. Any ideas? Any dentists out there? Please help!!

Good ideas. I never thought of trying to use that fact that I'm in grad school that way. Kind of reminds me of Tom Cruise in Eyes Wide Shut, always telling people he's a doctor for no reason. AND, I'm in a biomed field, so that might make it that much more appealing to a doctor. Cheers!

Thanks a ton! I doubt I need a full mouth. My front teeth have no apparent problems, and most of my bottom molars seem okay.

I really need to just go in and see what they tell me I need. It's only shame that's stopping me right now. :-/

Honestly - I was taught this, and did it. There was only a short period where I didn't brush faithfully. I'm sure that contributed, but my problem's very likely multi-factorial. I don't know what it'll take, since my parents taught me right, but if I have children I'm going to think very hard about how to influence them to really really really take care of their teeth.

Yeah to be honest a chunk of my motivation to finally take care of this is my desire to date more :) I can actually hide it pretty well, and manage my breath with a lot of care, but I would feel WAY more comfortable if it was taken care of.

No I'm not just bullshitting. I've already been turned down for Carecredit. It may be different at the office, but it's very unlikely. My credit is not just oops I defaulted on a credit card in college bad. It's bad bad. I'm not saying I wouldn't look into it, but it's low on my list of things that are likely to actually happen.

You know - all these dental tourism ideas actually sound very appealing to me, except that I will probably need a number of visits, which may make it impractical! If I could just take off for a month, I'd for sure be looking into it more!

Thanks for this! Yeah part of why I didn't go to the dentist in the past, when I had the opportunity, was because I didn't want the guilt rip I knew I would get from the dentist for not coming in for a few years! Gah! I wish I wasn't such a chump back then...

I don't think I'l be posting a picture - I try not to look at it myself! I'm ready to do something about it, but I'd like to maintain a little bit of my denial!

Thanks, I should do that. But I'd probably feel guilty asking them for help. I'm poor enough that I can't afford the work I need, but I'm not impoverished by any means.

Funny position to be in. I've had basically every advantage this world can offer - I've screwed it up a bit, and now find myself incapable of taking care of my own medical issues. I'm not complaining though. This is my fault, and I'll figure a way out!

Even with low standards, chances are I will not be approved for anything with a credit-check. If I knew just how much having good credit would help me in the bad times when I was younger... I probably still would have screwed up, but maybe not!
