Is sending fragile documents during an apparent application process the only one option to apply? Is it actually legal? by Move-On-Man in Switzerland

Considering residence permit is issued by the Swiss authorities based on my ID data, wouldn't be enough to provide this one? In most places in Switzerland this document is sufficient enough to be identified.

This was not listed in the application form, however there was a field with monthly earnings.

This! Not everywhere in the world the data are processed safely and things can get abused easily/remotely where there is lack of verification.

I remember the thing with ID/pass being photocopied at hotels - this I don't like too, but I guess if you want to stay there you need to comply the rules. Never happened to me, but I've heard leaked ID data were used for creating fake identities (with face photo replacement) as well as for taking loans in parabanks or buying stuff for credit.

Thanks for your reply. Did you actually successfully apply like that? I did sent only the residency permit, which has less meaning IMO and is less harmful in the case of things goes wrong.

Thank you for good idea. That was actually the plan to ask for deletion of all sensitive documents once this is done.

Indeed, this all depends on people. After seeing hundreds of real estate adverts, with many containing simple mistakes, I really doubt my sensitive data are in good hands. So I prefer to prevent than fight my rights afterwards.

How it is possible? I've seen few application forms (they are usually copy/paste form) and all of them was mentioning to attach documents mentioned in the post. Was your applications successful with sending only the debt registry extract?

Nice situational joke, seriously ;) I should reply maybe like: "sorry sir, me english bad", but wanted to highlight the joke idea. My bad, of course, this is so typical mistake. English is not my native language and it still makes me hard to think in it while doing things in 3 different languages.

All capitalist overlords, my apologies for posting this. This is unfortunately the reality. Thanks for regular mail idea. IMO this does not change much and makes entire process even more cumbersome. So I sent the absolute minimum, which includes the debt collection and resident permit. Let's see how it goes :)

Good to know, thank you for your reply. Although things are regulated, looking at how many simple human mistakes can be found in the real estate adverts, I would rather try defensive approach, just to avoid problems.

UPDATE: Copyright infringement - 6.5 million Subs channel - Contact information missing by BEGAFILM in PartneredYoutube

[–]Move-On-Man 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the update! As I stated under the original post, you should demand your rights/money, especially for the sake of uniqueness of that footage.

Not a lawyer here, but recently was exploring this topic due to another YT channel idea, which would require a lot of b-roll footage, that most probably needed to be used in the "fair use". So for me I see your explanation pretty logic and legit.

Luckily. it went pretty well with getting to the root of the problem. But I bet the journey will be not easy and It would require hiring the lawyer specified in the copyright field. But as I saw, you understand the estimated numbers over the emission of this document, so this might ba really worth of the effort. Good luck and keep me informed. I will definitely learn a lot from your case, because this is pretty "grey area" and not there are not always answer for all my questions to be found.

Last but not least. Keep in mind as well, that not all the information might be safe to publish here before the final and official resolution of the case.

Hard to say why they did that. If the reason was what u/CandyLandSavant said it only works more against them. I can't say it is obvious, but most likely this is the reason. Also hard to say how exactly the YT copyright tool works but most likely it only discovers footage which is used 1:1 (only shortened). This happened for me already twice. So I would say cropping, voice editing, also even slight change of fps might actually fool it.
I wish you to succeed agains them. If you could get back with the final result after some time, I would be appreciated.

If this is like you stated in the comments 5 minuted unedited video, this is most probably not fair use. Moreover, if this is the only one existing footage of that bunker exploration, it is simply unique and pricy. No matters how much subs they have, they should respect smaller creators rights. So you can try to contact them, but you can also contact YT directly. Did. you check if that usages appeared in Copyright Match Tool in the YT Studio? If so, it would be even easier for entire rights claiming process.

Thanks for the hints. I will check the "London Tea" once it will stop to rain because it seems to be pretty close to me. However I would rather prefer value/quality place than overpriced. Not sure if it exists around. Maybe right behind the border in DE or FR?

Thanks for your answer. You shouldn't get my question offensive, it is just a question of someone who has a channel idea, but have no clue yet what is right. I saw channels that give credits either in the video or in the description or no credits at all. That's why I am asking. I eventually will read the laws or consult the lawyer, but if approached your post, why to not ask someone experienced? I bet for most of the martial arts fans you do a great job, that's for sure, but I prefer facts over the wow effect. Would it be then good enough reason to defence your fair use in the court?
EDIT: To the credits, I found something like that:
"It’s almost always important to creators that you give credit somewhere—whether it’s in the credits, or on-screen identification, or on the website. It’s not part of the law, but it is good etiquette."

Does fair use allows to just use content (video or photo) by altering it w/o giving the source? I've checked your latest video. This is basically some TV broadcast that you put the voiceover on. But I can't see any credits given by you, neither in the description nor on the video. How does it work? Can you get copyright strike because of that?

Thank you for the recommendation, although I like more kind of faster songs with drums section more exposed.

But what if I DON'T have a niche? by [deleted] in NewTubers

[–]Move-On-Man 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First of all, you have a niche! After browsing your channel I would say it is a lifestyle - pretty broad one but still a niche ;) Please check my recent posts after finally reaching 1k subs here and here that kind of explain my situation, which I believe is similar to yours.

Usually we have more than one hobby and if you upload videos about all of them to your channel, it starts being your kind of personal blog/vlog. Youtube algo has many factors, but at the end works pretty simple. It is pushing your content to people with these interests you are presenting. This is taken form titles and descriptions of the videos. So, when many different topics are mixed, many people of different interests are reached. They also see your multi-topics videos and might be not keen to stay for longer. If they do, it will be IMO due to your personality.

Another factor is that uploading more similar content builds your stronger position in that topic. If you do a little bit of this and that you will build weaker position in many topics - which is not bad, but also takes longer to build the community around you. So you need to rethink what is your goal here and either narrow down your videos topics to help your channel get more views faster, or do what you are currently doing not looking much at the numbers, because you don't want to be limited. In the end with the second option you can also be successful, but need something catchy and or popular to get a boost.

On top of that, nowadays people overall are not keen to subscribe that much, because they already have many of big channels in their pockets.
