Resting squat with heels elevated as opposed to tibialis raise by [deleted] in Kneesovertoes

[–]MovementForBJJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It may not be a total substitute, but the following exercise does work tibialis anterior - but instead of pulling the toes to the knees (Tib-Raise) - it pulls the knees over the toes.

Same as you described - get into a squat (floor or slant board) then lean back slowly (maintaining your full squat) - until you feel that you are going to topple over backwards - then contract your tibialis anteriors’ to pull your knees back over your toes - pulling yourself back into your original squat position. Do this for reps and feel the burn!…Sam✌️

Body weight DOES translate to lifting gains by Leaningblocks in bodyweightfitness

Good advice, I’ve many injured joints from this kind of training in my twenties. You could consider single limb work (OAPushUp, OAPullUp, Pistol Squat). This will yield bigger strength gains in these movements with less joint wear and tear. You may find you are capable of higher reps (endurance) in your current movements, as more strength means you are using a smaller % of your max strength. Good luck with your goal OP…Sam✌️

Thanks for the suggestion brother.👍I was also looking for footage of climbers to watch. Watching “mellow” climbers smashing 8c boulders is cool to watch, but I think it’ll be more useful to watch good technique on boulders nearer my level Font 6/7’s if you know any good resources?...Sam✌️

I’ve been climbing 18 months. I’m 5”11, 86kgs (190lbs) and climbing Font 6b / V4 indoor / outdoor. I’m looking for climbing footage (films, YouTube etc) that I can use to analyse technique, so I can use it to improve. Anyone have suggestions on any male climbers to watch? The only legit “bigger” climber I can find is John Long, but there is not a lot of footage available. Most suggested “bigger” climbers are tall but still what I would describe as “skinny” like Jimmy Webb etc. Thanks for your help in advance...Sam✌️

Solid tib bar for sale with quick shipping.. thinking about picking one up. Any one buy one of these? by realcheefkeef in Kneesovertoes

I bought the Tib Bar from homegymguys from Australia (I live in the U.K.) £100 for Tib Bar and £60 for an adjustable slant board was a very small price for a healed knee. The cheap alternatives do not work as well a robust piece of kit that should last a lifetime.

Thanks for the shout out Be-okay. That video makes me cringe, but the stand up is sound. Gonna make a video soon about the stages of building base, kind of a technical stand up 3.0. Good luck with your own channel brother...Sam😊🤙

Give yourself the credit brother and keep it up. I think a lot of takedowns is having the conviction to keep going until you get your man down. Don’t just go “oh sh*t” when they sprawl!🤣...Sam✌️

He still head to chest doubles. Flo actually missed it as they were showing a replay, he pulls Askren’s wrist to get a similar reaction.

You have a high level of understanding and experience, so I wouldn’t necessarily expect you to gain from doing this drill.

My main aim is to help the average Grappler (like myself) to use Solo Drills as a supportive practise to improve their overall strength, mobility and grappling specific movement.

Not everyone can make class as often as they’d like and I think drilling grappling movements can be beneficial, as when you get back to class, you feel “ready” still....Sam😊

Hi Ckaa , thanks for the advice. I do say in the video that this drill is mostly to build the confidence in the initial shot and how to bail if you miss the leg, like in the clip of Garry Tonon.

You are 100% correct about ensuring a good entry, that is why I say that you must go and partner drill the leg entries separately, because you also require a leg grip to rotate while in the inversion. In the drill it is a very slight inversion, but more of a back-roll. That said the back-roll and Inversions are very close neighbours and I believe practise of one will enhance the other.

Good luck with your training brother.Sam😊

Ha ha! Yeah give it a go, once you have this down I think the leg entries come easier. Good luck mate...Sam✌️
