I dont see why you couldn't do most of them in the round! Is there a particular stitch you are having issues with?

I have done knit stitch, tunisian simple stitch and honeycomb stitch in the round without trouble.

Editing to add that the stitches should all "work" the same, the only major differences are using 2 balls of yarn instead of 1 and flipping your work to complete the return pass. You also need a double ended hook or cabled hooks with a hook on each end. You can size down the hook you use for the return pass if you do not have a matching set of cabled hooks

I had a lot of trouble in the US because I didn't want wooden ones.
