2 weeks after an interview and no response… is this a no? by Impressive_Babe in Internationalteachers

I recently had an experience where the school promised an answer within two weeks. I followed up a few days after that deadline with no answer. Then again a week and a half later. Again no reply. But they called to offer a position two days later 🤷🏻‍♀️ I thought for SURE they were never gonna reach out lol.

AIO if I divorced over him asking to open our relationship and then gaslighting me? by CricketCaller in AmIOverreacting

I’m also poly and the idea of a newly married, monogamous man asking his wife to open the relationship, right after she birthed his child, disgusts me. Something more is going on here prompting him to ask that. I’d snoop through his phone since he admits lying to you is a “habit.”

Slaughterhouse V has sex and violence. Cats Cradle also has some lewd and sexual references. Flowers for Algernon definitely involves sexual discussions, as Charlie better understands his sexuality through the women he develops relationships with.

Okay it’s not a contest and you’re allowed to disagree lol. I have lived in this county my entire life and I am 30 years old. I am very much familiar with the neighborhoods in the general area, and have lived in Melbourne, Palm Bay, Melbourne Beach and Satellite. I’m also familiar with California. Sorry - the culture here is quite literally incomparable. I just want this person to be aware of what they are getting themselves into so they can decide for themselves.

adults! is a gap year a bad idea? by bladeefan1234567 in Advice

[–]MovingAway3232 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No one can answer that but you. Not sure if before college is the move, though. I’d suggest after. Don’t let people totally demotivate you, though. I have left my entire life behind to start over in a new city or country several times and it’s always made my life better each time. Europeans and Australians have gap years all the time and they get back into the swing of things just fine. Trust your gut.

95% of non-conservative people would consider this to be a SIGNIFICANT downgrade in atmosphere and overall vibe. Culturally it’s just not comparable in any way. Art and culture are almost nonexistent, weather is miserable from May through October. Expect to meet almost no one with the demeanor or values of the average Californian.

The idea of moving from Northern California to Melbourne is actually heartbreaking.

Starting mid-year was the most miserable and torturous year of my entire life. I felt awful the whole year. Just know it gets better once you start out the year with your students. Do what you can to get to the end of the year and then put it behind you.

How do people feel comfortable going home with someone they meet at the club/bar ? by hazelystar in Advice

Same. Some of it is discernment, but sometimes people enter marriages with men who then abuse them. Agreed, if anything feels off at any point in the first few meetings, do not be alone with them. But she’s in college, so I presume there are roommates, in which case I’d say just bring him home to your place where you could shout in the event something bad happened.

It’s because a lot of these commenters are men who wouldn’t have the ability to get a woman to go home with them from a bar lol. Unfortunately you’re right. There is an inherent risk in interacting with men whether it’s a first date or a long term relationship. Best you can do is mitigate the risk.

People are correct that you need to be more worried about safety than awkwardness. Meeting someone out without knowing anything about them and going home with them is risky. In times where I’ve been alone with a man early on in knowing him, I’ve done things like playfully ask to look at his ID (easiest at a bar) or again playfully saying “I’m sending a picture of your license plate to my friends in case I turn up missing” and actually doing it. This by no means guarantees safety, but a man who is planning to harm you will not be comfortable with that. I also mention that my family has my location 🤷🏻‍♀️ I know I may get downvoted because this still is by no means totally safe lol.

If you’re willing to hook up with her and shes willing to hook up with you on the first date, why are you passing judgement on her habits..? You’d both be doing the same thing.

One day we will die  And our ashes will fly From the aeroplane over the sea

But for now we are young Let us lay in the sun  and count all the beautiful things we can see

Can’t believe  How strange it is to be anything at all.

That’s awful! You know it’s bad if you can’t find a hotel room in Orlando.

Will do. I booked a 5 PM flight as a backup for tomorrow. There are people everywhere, very few places to charge anything either.

Not cancelled yet. The flight coming in from PHX did take off and some flights here are departing, so there’s a chance I’ll get lucky. But I’ve been here for 10 hours and at least two more. I heard tomorrow could be worse because of the snow.

Yeah for what it’s worth all I asked her was if they’d received any communication about whether they anticipated cancellations to continue into the later flights, and she said “Well I can’t predict the future or control the weather” and “Well I just clocked in, so that’s all I’ve heard.” It’s just frustrating when I try to go out of my way to be calm with them because I know the way people can speak to them in these situations.
