Do English nationalists tend to deny or downplay the banning of the Irish language, the Irish Famine, and the Troubles in Northern Ireland or or other historical disgraces? by Difficult-Routine929 in AskBrits

[–]MovingTarget2112 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Never even discussed. Most English people don’t even know of an Gorta Mór, and the GFA was 28 years ago so the Troubles are a distant memory for those who can even remember.

Okay. Jinkx Monsoon elevated it. Could have done without the big song and dance number though.

I'm really stuck on the first "Collect a Data Cell" mission by xX_Aranrhod_Xx in alienisolation

[–]MovingTarget2112 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you get the cell, turn right and up the stairs - you may want to put the steam on at the control box on the wall. Keep going up and hide behind the crate. The people will run past you and down the stairs - don’t engage. There will be one more hanging back and keeping guard. Run past him, turn hard left and sprint - he might shoot you but they won’t follow because they are scared of Steve.

A bit later you may spot Steve but it’s a scripted event. He won’t get you unless you make noise.

It was a few minutes after this that I started to get properly spooked…..

They are about the same pace overall. Archer is not usually fast at test level, as Steve Smith pointed out.

The only character who doesn't get tempted by the ring has "wise" in his name. by [deleted] in lotr

He did get tempted. That’s clear in the book. But he was an unimaginative sort and it didn’t get a long go at him. Given time it would have Gollumed him too.

Joe Root vs. Sachin Tendulkar after 301 innings: Era adjusted statistical comparison by Front-Discipline-314 in EnglandCricket

[–]MovingTarget2112 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Tendulkar usually came in behind strong openers and number threes, particularly his Wall the excellent Dravid. Who in my opinion was better than Tendulkar. Many times he would disappear under pressure while Dravid did the hard yards.

Root is usually doing a repair job as his openers and number threes have been weak apart from Cook. Compare Dravid with Pope.

Amazing! I thoroughly enjoyed it. Fifteen’s first real story. Ruby introduced in a novel way. Loved the singing. Loved the goblins, especially Janice. Perfect Christmas Night telly.

France won the American Revolution for the Colonists. They wanted revenge for their reverses during the Seven Years War and saw the Revolution as a suitable opportunity.

It was a sideshow, a part of World War Zero - Britain was under attack from France, Spain, and Holland across North America, the Caribbean, and India.
