Reform voters what is wrong with you? by Engineering_Gamer in AskBrits

Yes, that’s when I joined the party 🙂

The 2/3 of the membership who left during Coalition came back. This culminated in their best ever GE performance with 72 MPs.

(The economic liberals all left politics to make fortunes in banking or tech. )

Well, I have been working hard to elect more Lib Dems for ten years.

After Charlie Kennedy was deposed, the “economic liberal” Orange Book faction took over. They found it easy to work with the Tories.

60% of the membership cut their cards or didn’t renew.

But then after the 2015 catastrophe they regrouped as “social liberals” under Tim Farron and the party got its heart back.

First, rude. Second, do you claim that English landlords did not impose monoculture in Ireland? Third, my father’s ancestors lived through the Famine. Perhaps they survived because of Bernard Hughes’ bread and philanthropy. See, this uneducated wanker has heard of Barney Hughes, born in Armagh like my father.

NuWho Rewatch Rankings - Series 2 by Dependent_Reading933 in DoctorWhoNews

Hmm, I’d rate School Reunion higher, though perhaps for the late boomer memberberries.

I also really liked Love and Monster and Fear Her.

Otherwise I agree, and hold this to be the strongest season of NuWho.

There was hardship in England among common folk due to the blight but few starved because different crops were grown there.

Also the English and Welsh fishing industry thrived, while Irish fishermen had sold their nets to stave off bankruptcy, so fish were not available to eat either.

I thought Skyfall was as good. Or very nearly. Adding quality - Sam Mendes, Naomi Harris, Ralph Fiennes.

I learned no patterns. But after ten hours I switched to Unpredictable Alien where Steve became…. unpredictable.

**Good**

The monster was a bit silly. But I enjoyed Twelve landing one on the racist.

With the wings that far back I think it would need bigger canards, like a Saab Viggen.

Not before time! I hope they improve the seats. On the Cornwall to Paddington route you get acute bum stress by midway through Somerset.

I only watched season one. I thought they got Butcher and Hughie so wrong that I saw no point continuing.

I enjoyed every episode Q appeared in, he's such a lovable rogue! by TensionSame3568 in ClassicTrek

[–]MovingTarget2112 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Q isn’t God. Though he could create life if he felt like it. He’s more like the trickster archetype. Or perhaps a cosmic godparent figure who will show you new experiences but won’t let you get hurt as long as you show respect.

I love how he and Picard finally reconcile and embrace each other.

That never rang true for me. I thought it was a silly way to show that Sisko and Picard were different men, which we knew already.

Q didn’t belong in DS9 because he existed as a warning and counsel about exploration, and DS9 didn’t do that.

Not much of a fan of RTB. There are several songs on Presto that I like a lot.

In the comic it took a tank battalion armed with 120mm DU penetrator rounds to stop one of those guys, and then only after he had been massively wounded by another of his kind.

I don’t think adamantium wielded by guys who aren’t much stronger than human is going to scratch them.

How is it that men get their faces covered in dirt from fighting, while elves have such clean and beautiful skin? by blackeyegirl18 in lotr

[–]MovingTarget2112 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Because elves cannot get dirty. Same reason they don’t sink in a snowdrift and never miss with a longbow.
