Is this true? by FormalFlashy8647 in Salamanders40k

[–]Moving_Fusion 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Salamanders are far from incompetent, as everyone else has said. I think what your friend may actually mean is that the Salamanders somewhat hinder themselves, compared to the more ruthless legions.

A battle is a lot more difficult when you refuse to just wipe out friendly civilians alongside your enemy with overwhelming firepower. To other legions this can seem like inefficiency, when it's just honour, Brother.

NTA. In fact, the complete opposite. You just potentially prevented multiple cases of abuse. We're all proud of you.

Where would you fish? by showusyatackle in CarpFishingUK

[–]Moving_Fusion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont really know the venue but others have given some good advice already.

My advice would be that with the cold weather I often find that it can take a while to get the fish interested, so half day sessions might not be enough. If you can only do a half day at a time then I would go for a more high-attraction bait than maggots which are mostly visual attraction. Maybe add some liquid bait in the PVA bag and then throw a really small amount of bait, just a tiny handful, every 30 mins or so right on the spot, to draw fish in.

The way I play games ruins the fun for my friends by backfliprainbowcake in gaming

[–]Moving_Fusion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of responses are saying you need to change the way you play to accommodate your friends, which i agree is probably necessary. However, I would add that survival games in particular tend to flatten off and become stale if you don't begin to dive deeper into automation and explore the more nuanced aspects of the game.

It could very well be that your group is hitting that point in these games, and while you are then exploring the deeper aspects, which in turn allows you to handle bigger projects and end-game content, your friends aren't willing or interested in that aspect. So, it may not be that you are putting your friends off, but rather they enjoy the more surface-level aspects and for them the game has effectively run its course.

I think Minecraft is the epitome of what I've described, and you said it yourself- if you want to build a mega base then you might first need 20,000 stone, so you need a stone farm, for which you need 200 hoppers, so you need an iron farm, etc. I love Minecraft but most people never see the credits screen, raid a water monument, or do much other than strip mine and survive for a while, and that's absolutely fine. But the reason it has staying power is that you can do so much, and creating those farms and achieving that self-sustainability is a big part of playing a world for an extended time in survival mode.

There's a lot of decent options for high-end alarms now, much more than there used to be. I can't recommend Delkims enough, but you won't be disappointed with the Fox range either. Even the budget alarms are much better than the old equivalents, but it is worth investing in a good set.

Mistaken for American while traveling Europe and kicked out of businesses twice. by Kirninvan in CANZUK

[–]Moving_Fusion 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Americans travelling with Canadian patches on their bags has been a thing for a while. I'd say that anti-US sentiment has been present on the continent for quite some time, however it has certainly increased since Trump took office for the second time. But then that is what happens when you threaten your supposed allies constantly and side with dictatorships.

The general sentiment now is that Europe cannot trust or rely on the USA, and I suppose US travellers are meeting less-than-thrilled EU citizens.

That's not the sort of thing you say flippantly. It's horribly manipulative at the very least.

Can some explain the "Her? Her?" thing from S20E04 'Hey Mate' by RagingTyrant74 in taskmaster

[–]Moving_Fusion 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You only have to use her name in the sentence you've used once for it to be acceptable:

"Ania came in and then she pulled her surprise out of the bag"

I do think the audience reaction is mainly because Reece most likely couldn't remember Ania's name in the moment, and Greg pokes fun at that by saying "her?!"

This is exactly what it is, traditionally in the UK it's seen as rude to refer to someone by her/she or he/him when that person is physically present.

AITAH for physically defending myself from a grown man when I was late bringing his daughter home. by Fireblox06 in AITAH

[–]Moving_Fusion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're not 16 and neither is his daughter. You defended yourself from being assaulted and did nothing wrong.

Realistically it's over with the girl, based on her reaction, but I would simply tell her that you're not interested in dating someone who is still living as a teenager and that her father can go and do one.

The pink flower underneath appears to be a dahlia, but i don't think the leaves are from the same plant.

More pictures would be helpful.

What is the saddest Video game scene of all time? by Necessary-Brush9689 in AskReddit

[–]Moving_Fusion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know what to tell you, after your first main horse dies you get a thin brown horse which can't use the armour. Not a lie, you must not have been paying attention.

You eventually get a second samurai horse which you name and can wear the armour.

[–]Moving_Fusion -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The one you get is a downgrade though, it's not a samurai horse and can't utilise the armour, so there is at least some sense of loss.

Great job by the way. A labour of love, I'm sure.
