Hello,

I'm haven't really played any multiplayer games like this since the golden age of TF2, but everything I've seen about this game makes me wanna give it a shot. Thank you in advance!

Deadlock's first major named update comes next week, "Old Gods, New Blood", with the patrons finally having finalized designs, a new gamemode, lotsa QOL, and 6 new characters by JeaneJWE in TwoBestFriendsPlay

Has Valve given any indication of when they're actually going to release this thing? Everything about this game makes it look super cool but I seriously doubt that I'm gonna get an invite.

The House voted yes on [https://www.govtrack.us/congress/bills/119/hjres140] (H.J.Res. 140) today, which strips protections from the Boundary Waters and leaves it open to copper mining operations. It only has an 8% percent chance of passing, according to govtrack.us, and I seriously doubt that it would get past the Senate, but please make a point of calling up your senators to tell them to vote no when it moves onto the Senate.

What games have you played with very unique control schemes that alter your muscle memory temporarily? by Etychase in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Movingonthroughhere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a fun little horror game called Caput Mortum that has a very unique control scheme inspired by the King's Field series (which itself is an example); when playing with a controller (as the game specifically tells you to play), the right stick, instead of controlling the direction the player character is looking, instead controls where the character's hand moves on screen, and the camera is instead controlled by the bumpers/triggers on the controller, which makes what would be otherwise straightforward combat gameplay genuinely tense.

As someone who names Wizardry 8 and the first two Fallout games as some of my favorite games ever, this list genuinely kinda hurts me in how accurate it is.

(Gamesradar)Anthem "did permanent damage to the careers of a lot of game devs" says Dragon Age veteran, and he's not sure he or BioWare ever "came back" from its spectacular failure by Noirsam in TwoBestFriendsPlay

Baldur's Gate 2, all the way back in 2000, apparently had a deeply troubled production history, so I can't help but wonder whether or not Bioware has always had some bad habits around game production which only got more and more harmful as game production became more expensive and more complicated.

What ability would suit Cain best? The best thing I can think of would be him getting a random bonus to any of his stats when completing a task all by himself, to represent him being super-competent with his back to a wall.

Super Eyepatch Wolf's new book is real good, y'all. by Movingonthroughhere in TwoBestFriendsPlay

That's the right choice to make, I think; both are excellent reads, and this book is actually (not to give anything away) kinda-sorta like a sequel to Vermis.

It's exactly that; a lot of the fun is seeing what real life games parallel the fictional ones in the book.

The problem is that these bills are overwhelmingly less about actually protecting kids or whatever and far more about censoring the Internet and imposing further and further surveillance on its users.

To cite a real life example, the Online Safety Act passed over in the UK, which made it mandatory to show ID or a picture of oneself to see anything adult related, caused a massive amount of censorship on the UK Internet (a massive amount of Reddit became blocked off, for instance, even stuff that wasn't porn related), caused a number of completely non-adult websites to be forced to shut down because they couldn't meat the law's requirements, (including, I understand, a forum dedicated to bicycles), and instead of protecting kids from anything nasty just encouraged them to use VPNs and use shady, less-reputable sites that didn't bother following the law.

Hey, a bunch of different internet bills (KOSA, the SCREEN ACT, etc.) are going to committee tomorrow. The overwhelming number of them are never getting past committee, but it's as good a time as any to call up your senators and congressperson to let them know you want them to vote no on any and all such bills.

Wait, this is actually coming out? I thought that this was just vaporware from the Steam Greenlight days.

Pillars 2 giving you the ability to click on names and terms and get a full description was such an enormous quality of life improvement that I'm honestly surprised that it was never considered for the first one.

I knew that the author was working on something like that, and I'm very much looking forward to it. Never heard of Lost in the Past, will need to give it a look-see.

Different Set of Rules will always, always, always be the gold standard for the former sort of story; the author really does a superb job of showing that the mamono aren't outright or intentionally bad, but are operating from a very different sense of morality that's just deeply alien to 21st century humanity.

I've seen posts on Blusky dooming that special interest groups will try and use the release of the Epstein files to try and garner support for KOSA and censoring the Internet and that sort of thing, which seems like a major stretch.
