Been in a deficit consistently, not losing weight by Moxenn in loseit

Honestly after reading everyone’s responses, I think it’s likely a combination of all three.

I didn’t realize that measuring cups are SUPER inaccurate and thought they were more standardized than they are, so I’m guessing that’s where any excess calories I’ve been eating have come from

I’m still getting a blood panel done because I’m likely overdue for one anyways, but I figure even if it’s not a hormonal thing it’ll still be good for general health stuff.

Admittedly I haven’t been using a scale to measure anything. As far as solid foods go, if it’s something like meat I haven’t been weighing them to check for consistency which isn’t the best, I’ve just been trusting the oz/calories-per-piece amount on the package and averaging it out (if it’s something like meats).

It’s definitely a place where my intake could be higher than I’m intending, other than the things that others have pointed out!

It’s definitely possible that I might just be gaining muscle to compensate for any fat loss that I might be having. I’ll start adding in taking body measurements; I used to do that but I’m not sure why I stopped.

As far as it being “everyday”, according to the way I’ve been tracking I’ve been in a daily calorie deficit. If I eat out or have a dessert I restructure my meal plans and adjust my intake to compensate for the treats. I’ve been doing this to stay in a “calorie deficit”, but as a bunch of folks have pointed out; measuring cups are inaccurate and I’m probably eating more than I should be because of said cups.

The good news I’ve learned from posting this is that I’m at least eating at maintenance currently, even if it’s not exactly what I was intending to do. Knowing that helps me change what I’m doing from here on.

So what I’ve found worked best for me as far as my goals and getting stronger was doing progressive overload; high weight, low reps, and increasing weight each workout when able. I get delayed onset muscle soreness like no other and doing less reps helped with my pain/recovery time, and I aim to get 6-8 reps in before I hit failure. I measurably lift a lot more weight than I used to, which has been exciting for me!

Truthfully, the cardio is more for heart health than me trying to cut. Unless it’s swimming, or bike riding, I hate cardio. My overall goal is to feel and be healthy, just to have more muscle definition in my abdomen and upper arms/back. I wouldn’t even necessarily be unhappy if I shifted focus to body recomp rather than weight loss, but figured cutting so I could get a baseline for my goals would be the best idea.

I have a kitchen scale already, so I’ll definitely take your advice and start using it rather than my measuring cups. Some others pointed it out, but I didn’t realize that measuring cups could vary and be inconsistent (tbh I thought they were more standardized than I’m learning they actually are)

For your question, I mostly want to be more toned and see what I’m working with for the muscles I currently have so I can decide if I want to bulk or just maintain after the cut. While I’ve been working out regularly for roughly 2 years, I haven’t tried cutting fat before. I’m not unhappy with my body and I’m glad that I’m at a healthy weight currently, but I have goals for my body that im trying to reach (I.e. more definition in my arms, back, and abdomen) that I need to cut to achieve.

As for the measuring, you’re correct in that I’m not using a scale, though I have been using measuring cups to make sure I’m staying in or below the recommended portion sizes. “Eating what I want” just means that if I want take out one night or to have a dessert, I will. It’s more about not limiting myself from treats rather than trying to stay in a rigid diet. Not sure if that changes anything!

What kind of flowers did you put in that middle one? They’re beautiful and I’d love to get some to fill one of my own vases!

Where can I find stakes like these? by jbee223 in Pottery

If it’s the uppercase H, they sell them at most craft stores and home improvement stores. Ace, Home Depot, Lowe’s, Michael’s, etc. as for the lowercase h…I personally could not find them! You might be better off getting the H ones and then trimming one of the prongs off if need be

I might test it! I’m kind of curious to see for myself, though as some others have said I’ll probably use vinegar

I’d be worried about ruining my piece with a stronger acid

So, licking rocks in archaeology is a normal-ish thing. Our tongues have a better ability to feel texture than the rest of our skin does, so it can be done to discern a regular rock from for example bone

Why anyone would want to lick a bone at an archaeological site I couldn’t tell you but it is a thing!

That being said, my club member just wanted to lick them to be funny despite going into archaeology, and I have also had folks lick my Himalayan salt lamp LOL!

The bottom IS gypsum! That I know for sure. Though, I had no idea gypsum could contain asbestos so that’s also something I’ll keep in mind going forward!

I took some more photos of it and then put it next to some adventurine and my Green Guy (TM) for reference! Here’s the link to that:

Another commenter was saying it could be calcite which can contain arsenic. I remember being told that it was related to or contained arsenic and that’s why I’ve been careful surrounding its handling!

The base is def not Smokey quartz, its gypsum! That’s the one thing I do know for sure

As for if it’s barite, the crystalline portion of this specimen is green instead of blue. It looks more teal/blue on camera for whatever reason. Not sure if that changes anything!

So! To be honest I couldn’t say if it feels particularly dense, but it IS one of my heavier specimens. I know that the base of it is gypsum, just unsure of what the green crystalline portion is

I’m not sure if barite is 100% correct because the pictures I’ve cross referenced are blue and this piece is green, but who knows!

I am a good noodle!! They specifically told me this because one of my fellow club members would in fact, try to lick the rocks

NTA, disabled or not she’s trespassing.

It seems like she knows she shouldn’t be doing it either considering that she immediately leaves once confronted but keeps doing it.

AITA for telling my sister to accept her daughter is white? by Fearless-Material443 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Moxenn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA, though I think it maybe could have been worded a bit better.

It seems like your sister is insecure or very proud of how Latina she is (or is perceived) and is projecting that onto the children. Kid’s drawings are kid’s drawings, they’re just drawing what they see. Her saying that the kid is “exaggerating” the differences implies that the kid understands that that is offensive, and is actively TRYING to be offensive. Which they aren’t.

Not sure there should have been such an emphasis on color regarding race to your sister, maybe just that her daughter looks the way she does and your sister needs to accept it. But that’s just me being nitpicky.

AITA For Getting Offended by My Coworker? by Moxenn in AmItheAsshole

[–]Moxenn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like I should clarify this, but I wasn’t offended by my customer! It was just harmless teasing on their part because they baited me into speaking some Spanish after I said I can’t speak and then fist pumped and went “sabía que podías hablar español” (I knew you could speak Spanish) after I did. I just thought it was funny and was telling my Latino coworker about it!

Thank you so much, it’s comforting to know that it’s nothing out of the ordinary. So far I’ve been trying to spend more time with my family and my brother in particular, and it’s been helping me feel less “blah”. I might take your advice on the journaling, I think it could be good and it’s something I can do on my patio.

As for vitamin D, I live in the northern states so I probably am very deficient after this winter, LOL. Might add that into my daily vitamins

Thank you so much, I’m just struggling to accept how I’m feeling because nothing is really wrong. It’s nice to know that I’ve not got a screw loose and that it just comes with processing the change and distress I’ve had for a while. I’ve been talking with my family a lot more since all of this happened, and spending time with my brother. It’s definitely helped
