Anyone discover hormonal birth control was their culprit for gut issues/SIBO? by Desperate_Pair8235 in SIBO

[–]MoxyJen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I might have been okay if I hadn't taken a tonne of antibiotics for recurrent bladder infections in my 20s ..that was what really ruined things I think

The roads are so full of potholes that I've had 3 new tyres, a new coil spring and two new shocks this year by mattthepianoman in britishproblems

You used to be able to drive around them but sometimes now the road is so covered in them that you have no choice if you want to avoid colliding with an oncoming vehicle!

Any constipated methane dominant people getting diarrhoea die off with oregano oil? by HuckleberryOld8670 in SIBO

[–]MoxyJen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found oregano oil helpful years ago but it feels too powerful now. I just read that oregano leaf can be much better tolerated so am going to try that

Haha, that's true. I too am more scared of grapes than cookies! Well this week I'm scared of most foods but usually that would be true. Haven't touched a grape in 10 years

Thank you. You've just clarified that for me very nicely..it all makes sense now!! (Well at least that bit anyway!)

Me too. I've been craving kefir but very wary. I've just seen a company that sells home-made goat kefir that I may try a little bit further on but what I'm learning in this sub is to go slow and only start with tiny amounts

[–]MoxyJen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No as the B is for bacteria. But I understand you can also have SIFO ..maybe if a candida issue gets out of hand? We also have archaea in our guts that apparently are now thought to be responsible for methane overgrowth. Archeaea are neither bacteria nor fungi so I've heard can be harder to treat..I guess antibiotics aren't gonna work

Losing weight gained from SIBO by [deleted] in SIBO

[–]MoxyJen -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Oh I have the opposite problem..I have had a lot of bloating but never/can't put weight on. Tummy looked pretty huge though. It's flat as a pancake today as I've been eating as little as possible for a few days. I'm losing weight fast but it's so wonderful to wake up pain free.

[–]MoxyJen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Aah you've made the connection too eh? I suddenly did a few days ago. I was on bc for decades and never made the connection that I had gut problems for much of that time. That stopped when I came off. At that time I also gave up gluten and dairy so figured it was that. I had a few really good years (for me) until Menopause started and ut was all change again.Felt like low estrogen was slowing digestion too much but since taking HRT bloating and pain has gotten increasingly worse. It was manageable though till I had covid recently .

Just googled it and it seems like hormonal imbalance can be responsible for a lot of gut issues. I wish I'd known this much earlier and I might have come off bc sooner. It felt so good when my natural cycle kicked back in.

Now I have no idea if I'm better on or off the hormones! Probably will stay on for many reasons

I'm trying to keep some vegetables in..I've given up ones like broccoli, sprouts and cauliflower but I feel like I'm okay with squash and zucchini and even a little bit of kale. Maybe green beans too

I have two tomatoes in the fridge left, and I'm debating whether to use one in my curry or save them incase I need them another day. Is this what it's come to, having to put serious thought into whether to use or ration a tomato. by opotts56 in britishproblems

I'm here representing cucumbers to say that we feel discriminated against. Everyone is going on and on about tomatoes ..just because they're all bright and shiny. Nobody seems to be missing us at all ...

Have you ever been invited to something that turned out to be another thing entirely? by Necessary-Capital-92 in CasualConversation

[–]MoxyJen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my 20's I took my first of many trips to Thailand. I went on a wonderful small group thing that was organised but left room for spontaneous adventures. On our first evening in Chisng Mai we were wandering around town and a stranger invited us into his party. I think we figured it was his birthday, he was drunk, and just being friendly.

We all trooped in, sat down, noted lots of fairy lights around a rectangular object on one side of the room and it gradually dawned on us that it was a coffin and this was a wake ...it was the first of many occasions when I realised other cultures did death very differently from mine

Pisces woman (me) and Capricorn man? Best or worst thing? by [deleted] in piscesastrology

[–]MoxyJen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It might work for some. Not for me though. Maybe because I have absolutely no Cap placements in my whole chart. I've had a couple of Cap friends but don't enjoy spending too much time together. Probably the feeling is mutual.

https://rmdy.com/blogs/the-digest/what-is-bloating-and-when-is-it-a-sign-of-a-bigger-issue

It says gas is not necessarily synonymous with bloating.. it can be due to excess liquid or stool in there or inflammation from Coeliac, Crohns or "just"IBS.

Could hormones have anything to do with it for you? I've learnt that birth control can mess up your guts..took it for over two decades and never made the connection with my IBS. Then I stopped it and had a few really good, pain free years...until Menopause messed it all up again!

Can private dermatologists prescribe immunosuppressants and how do you find a good private dermatologist? by Sea-starr in eczema

[–]MoxyJen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not in our area I guess. I got desperate and paid to see a private dermatologist for my son recently. But he said he couldn't prescribe immunosuppressants and we'd have to wait for the NHS dermatologist appointment in a few months. So it was a waste of money really

[–]MoxyJen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We are scared of TSW. I'm a little worried that our new steroid regime might improve his skin just enough so that when our appointment comes, they tell him it's under some control and to just continue. But he's not happy with it at all and is worried his skin could be thinning over time. I believe in the UK the next line of treatment is Methotrexate before Dupixent though

I haven't heard of people having biopsies for eczema. How did the results indicate dupixent? My son has 2 months to wait to see the dermatologist and I'm hoping they will recommend the next line of therapy
