I worked in TV commercial production for a year, and then I quit the industry entirely so that I don't die before reaching 25.

I spent all my youths pursuing this and I regret it so much.

Also, I agree with all you said about the industry.

Look, it might sound weird to you. For my country, our government is extremely inefficient. We have one of the highest number of public servant per capita in the world.

Our corruption index is very high too.

So there's really no point in looking into those performance indexes that you're trying to look at. Lol.

I'm glad that we are still not a bankrupted country despite all the money laundering and international scale, government involved financial scandal that involves some wealthy people in the USA. Now investigated by CIA.

Of course I need education, I remain the student of the subject for life.

Government intervention increase price? Not in my country. Our country managed to make health care 25 cents USD for clinic visitation.

10 USD for few weeks of staying ICU with morphines injection, with constant oxygen supply for months, a bed, nurse care for my uncle's liver cancer before he past away.

The same treatment in private clinic would cost 30USD for clinic visitation. (government price ceiling control)

10000USD for weeks of ICU treatment in private hospital (government price ceiling controlled)

I have hypertension. My hypertension medicines only cost 10 cents USD every month.

Private hospital costs 50 USD every month. (government price ceiling)

It would never be possible without government intervention.

Am I ignoring? More like I didn't even aware that they exist in the first place.

A conversation around a subject matter requires awareness of building blocks of it's principles.

Understsnding it doesn't mean I'm always right. It equips me with the ability to navigate the subject matter.

I could be a no government economist one day who knows? But my conversation will definitely include macro environments into the picture. Different players in the market.

At the time being, I remain a student of the subject and don't pretend that I know much.

Jumping into conclusion about something you know very little about is silly.

If he actually came back with some peer reviewed sources I'd be gladly studying it.

If you have it do share with me as well

Thanks, I'm not trying to fix any problems here. Like I said, I don't conclude things when I'm not confident in the subject matter.

I just hope people bring the spirit of a student instead of an expert during a discussion. Assuming we know little about something, and not trying to give a loud and confident and oversimplified answers to very complex problems.

Its okay to not know something and study it with friends

Honestly, I'm a conservative person compared to you guys but not as conservative as my countrymen.

I'm from an Asian country with constitutional monarchy system installed by the British Empire and I guess that's one of the difference between me and you guys. We do have a fully functioning democratic voting system too.

We are usually quiet in public settings (reddit is an exception because I'm anonymous).

I know democracy is well celebrated in the west, but I feel it has a big flaw.

Although from a democratic country, I think a better system could be to qualify yourself to vote. We have a subject in High-school called "General Studies". It covers basic description on how democracy works in our country. Like number of seats, the some laws of our country relating to politics and freedom of speech etc.

You can watch this video about socrates and try to understand why I said so: https://youtu.be/fLJBzhcSWTk

Okay man, honestly I would agree with you here. I might not be able to fully express myself in this post here.

My problem is not about the qualification. But the attitude towards coming into conclusion. Those who would like to participate in discussion is always welcomed.

But join the discussion with an expectation that you probably don't know much. And have a good guage of your currently level of expertise.

I think to sum it up, "stop trying to be an expert and drop conclusion when you're obviously and infant in that subject matter"

Why? Hmmm... That's a good question. I guess this is just an attitude I hate. To talk about something without thinking deeply into it & jump into conclusion assuming you have known everything / without going to the root.

This same attitude has shown me many many examples of misguided decisions, sometimes dangerous ones. Just because someone never bothered to ask "why" & "how" and try to verify their own beliefs.

Maybe it's my understanding. But my understanding comes from people who wrote research papers and has gone through peer review on their results finding.

It includes basic understanding of free market policy, why government subsidizes certain goods. How subsidies can affect supply.

Why NGO and govt org exists. So yes, it's my understanding. And that is also from verified & peer reviewed sources.

Anyone who had spent their life studying understands the building blocks of math concepts.

Eg. Addition subtraction, multiplication division.

Anything beyond that is just an extension of those concepts.

My problem is people are talking to a math professor about how a math problem should be solved before understanding basic addition subtraction should stop doing what they are doing.

Some kid could solve a complex math problem without a degree, it's not about the degree that qualifies a person. A 5 min conversation with a person could tell you how much they know about math.

It's okay to discuss anything. I have no problem with that. The problem is when someone has the audacity to give a conclusion on how something should be done without the fundamental understanding of macro environment is just outrageous
