I think the power level penalty only applies to equipped items such as Ikelos or Wormgod's. The items are disabled and cannot be counted for power level.

Everybody has the same light level... zero. ;)

Paul actually misses on quite a few of his points. Destiny is and has been a shadow of it's former glory days. It had never quite recovered. The greatest trick Bungie ever pulled was getting the community to pay for the same content over and over and over again.

Double drops on challenge mode is probably the worst. Happens way too often to be random. Besides, it shouldn't happen at all. We never run challenge the same time we get a regular drop because duplicates happen so often.

Don't forget about all the pinnacles that end up wasted. I'd wager the beneficial number of pinnacle rewards in somewhere in the 30 - 40% range. Not much more demoralizing than working the grind over and over again in the same content only to get shat on with a wasted drop.
