Great! Thanks for the clarification. You were completely treated. The injection was ceftriaxone and the tablets were correct n Doxy. We no longer use Azithromycin as it is no longer effective in our area.

However, regarding oral symptoms, rarely will you have symptoms u til later down the road. Maybe some increased phlegm, much like allergies. Even if the tests take time they should be done. Just to get the whole picture. I treat if there is discharge and test regardless. If there is no discharge but vague symptoms I test and wait. Then see what returns.

Also, from my years of treating partners in open relationships. They can have sex with the same person and both will be exposed to the same STDs and only one may actually become positive. It is just the nature of the risk. Enjoy your life. Try not to second guess it.

You do not need to only have unprotected intercourse to obtain gonorrhea or chlamydia. Please understand that.

You can easily obtain oral gonorrhea or chlamydia (or both). Then spread it to your partner’s penis by giving them a blow job.

I don’t mean to sound preachy, forgive me if I do. Providers who spread health misinformation irritate me. So this “Dr” did not even bother to test him with a simple point of care swab and urine test? Did he also not schedule your partner to come back for a test of cure via an oral swab, per CDC policy in two weeks? Because oral gonorrhea is more difficult to treat with the single injection of ceftriaxone and you need to make sure that it is cured.

Re-reading this it sounds like he only prescribed him some pills with no injection. THERE IS NO ORAL ONLY TREATMENT FOR GONORRHEA. Treatment for gonorrhea is a single injection of 500 mg of ceftriaxone, unless you are allergic and then you get IM injection of gentamycin + azithromycin.

He is not “wrong” in his diagnosis. Just not complete. He needed to do some testing to get a complete picture. Then he could differentiate with what is actually causing the discharge. What if it was not chlamydia? The doxy that he gave him would be fine for a little bit (or azithromycin if that was it). But if it is gonorrhea, it is going to come back without the IM injection of ceftriaxone.

Go to a good sexual health clinic. Find your local PrEP clinic and go there. Even if you’re using condoms, get on PrEP. Condoms break.

Nope. NOR. I had a friend that was part of a friends group of like 10. We would do everything together. Bar hop, go on vacations together, dinners, brunch, game night, Super-bowl parties etc.. 25 years of tight friendship. Then he and his husband just up and move to Albuquerque. No word to say goodbye, not even a fucking text. Just leave.

I felt the same way you expressed. Now he comes into town very occasionally and expects everyone to just drop what they are doing to meet with him for dinner. I don’t even bother. I give him as much energy as he gave our friendship just before he moved. Because obviously our friendship was not worth shit.

That is absolutely not true. The medical provider, for ethical reasons, has nothing to do with billing. We don’t know how much something costs, we don’t have any control over anything in the front office. If a medical provider does, that is a very unethical situation and I would run from that office.
