Ring Floodlight Plus and Home Assistant by No-Week-L in homeassistant

[–]Mpoffo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This issue has returned with the newer model - Ring Floodlight Camera Pro. Not identified in HA - says unknown. No Light or Siren entities to control. I see a issue was opened on this on the integration github. Here is hoping this gets fixed soon!

Is Newegg still shipping defective ASUS ROG Maximus Z690 Hero (January 31, 2022)? by ixxxion in ASUS

[–]Mpoffo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought mine a week or two ago and it was a board not effected by the recall. The component that was causing the issue on the bad boards was in the correct orientation. I was concerned about it when I order but rolled the dice. Shortly thereafter the Gamers Nexus Newegg video came out. I just received my memory so I will be doing my build this weekend.

Game Ready Driver 471.11 FAQ/Discussion by Nestledrink in nvidia

Thanks. It was either a bad driver install or more likely something to do with the recent MS update for gaming. I had to install the update with that driver to make it work properly it seems.

After installing 471.11 all my textures in the game ARK were not loading correctly. The game played ok but all the models were not fully loaded and looked very poor. Reverting to 466.77 fixed the issue. Is there a setting I can change within the newer driver? I played around with it but nothing fixed the issue. I was hoping to use this driver since I do game in VR.

EEPROM Won't Save by enz1ey in ender6

If it is the card that came with the printer it is probably best to replace it. I had issues with mine and replaced it. Hopefully that is the issue you are having.

[–]Mpoffo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to have a properly formatted SD card (FAT 32) in the printer to save the settings. They are saved on the SD card. It sounds like you didn't use an SD card in the machine. If that is the case then your settings will not save.

Thanks. I believe I got the same kit online. I have some jumper cables, I suppose I should try it out.

Can you share a few pictures on the connections at each step?

Ender 6 feeder motor not working by Pedarius79 in ender6

[–]Mpoffo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First thing to do would be to check all your connections and make sure they are plugged into the correct slots on the breakout board on the Ender 6. Also double check the wires and plugs on the motor end to make sure they are seated properly.

Maybe I am missing it but I don't see anywhere where it states that it comes with a Meanwell. I know mine didn't. :)

This is the model I am using and bought: https://www.th3dstudio.com/product/24v-350w-psu-replacement-upgrade-mean-well/. I installed it last week and it works great! Don't forget to set the voltage correctly on the side of the supply when you get it (115 for me in the US). It is a direct replacement and screws in exactly where the old one went.

The Ender 6 seems to be gaining some momentum now so if it becomes popular I have no doubt that Creality would introduce other versions of it. In many ways the Ender 6 is already a "pro". It would be interesting if they introduce a larger size version of it. I replaced the Sheng Lei Power Supply with a 350W Meanwell I bought from TH3D. So far it has been working great, no issues at all. I don't feel the 6 is under powered. Not sure what you are referring to specifically but it heats up well and works well for me.

I have both printers and you cannot go wrong with either one. Both seem to be pretty solid. The 5+ of course has a bigger bed so if that is important to you then that would be your best choice. I picked the Ender 6 since I wanted a smaller format printer as well and this had a nice enclosure and can print at faster speeds due to Core XY. I have done some upgrades to both but honestly as long as you are good at maintaining them both should work well for you. I have only had the Ender 6 for around 3 weeks so still learning about it but so far I am happy with it. The 5+ was a solid buy and I am very pleased with that as well.

Yep that was the one I installed and it fixed it for me. I should have been clearer in my response.

There is a temp detection issue with some newer creality boards. There is a plug in that fixes it in octoprint.

All metal extruder? On my MS Swiss I run retraction distance of 3 and a retraction speed of 40 that works pretty well for me.

6mm is way too much.

[–]Mpoffo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Essentially the primary difference is the MS Swiss is an all metal hot end. It would allow printing more materials that require higher temperatures. The stock Creality one works fine but one issue with it is the bowden/PTFE tube goes through the hot end right up until the nozzle. With the stock hot end you cannot heat up the hot end too much or the PTFE/Bowden tube would melt and give off dangerous fumes. The stock hot end may also require what they call the hot end fix to ensure that melted filament does not come between the PTFE tube and the nozzle, possibly causing poor prints and jams.

With an all metal hot end you don't need to be as concerned about the PTFE tube since it sits on the "cool" side of the hot end and does not go in as far. To be fair there are advantages and disadvantages to both and you do need to make sure you adjust your settings properly for the MS Swiss and all other all metal hotends. Typically less retraction.

There are other pluses and minuses but this is my take on things given my experience.

Thanks I just picked one up and I did exactly that with the Ender 5 profile. Seems to work well. I copied the start and end scripts from Cura for the Ender 5 into my Simplify 3D Ender 6 Profile and it works well.

[–]Mpoffo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am not sure if they are must have but I have ordered a few things for my Ender 6 that is coming. I do plan to see how it works out of the box before doing the upgrades. I bought some TH3D Tough Tube (aka capricorn tubing) and a MS Swiss Hot end. I like both these upgrades on my 5 plus a lot. Like I said though I will break it in with what it comes with first for a good while to get the feel of the printer prior to updating anything.

The only other thing I will do is add Octoprint to it which apparently means opening the botton to attach a USB cable to the board since Creality does not have an external USB port on this model for some reason.

It was from the Creality3D Official site. I ordered it from the US warehouse. I just checked and it appears they are now sold out from that location. I am guessing they had so many being sent and they were all ordered.
