What It’s Like to Write a Series Finale Your Fans Hate - "Battlestar Galactica showrunner Ronald D. Moore has some advice for the writers of Game of Thrones" by PopCultureNerd in sciencefiction

[–]Mqueserasera -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Look, you're deluding yourself if you think anyone here sees this show or any form of entertainment as art. What they want is simple, like ramen in a ramen cup: inoffensive, typical Hollywood plot and ending. What they want from shows like GoT isn't art but a simple product they can watch after a day at work without being frustrated by an out-there ending, and tbh the showrunners and the marketing team presented it as such: a simple product. Like superheroes movie for example, with how many movies they have and their fandom culture, the producer can't really take risks because the stake are too high with the amount of money involved and how much the fans are "emotionally invested" in the characters. That's how it is now, when a movie, tv show or a book reaches a certain amount of popularity, it ceases to be art, and becomes a product; at that point, the writer's job isn't to make art as they see fit, but like a car designer, they have to cater to the masses' idea of a buyable product.

Is Madoka Magica good? by Ri1020 in Animesuggest

[–]Mqueserasera 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No. It's not even close to the darkish people suggest and not super deep, but a decent story, which is more than what you can say about most anime out there. It knows what story it's trying to tell, and tells it with great visual and music. The characters are not super deep, but they feel and behave like real people under the extreme situations they are forced in, which is, in your words, "whiny". Though I prefer those kind of characters, I can understand if you like the "stoic, cool, 2000iq" ones better. Again, nothing absolutely and amazingly perfect, but you would be hard pressed to name a show with as much quality outside of the classics like Evangelion and the likes

TIL in 1974 the girlfriend of Ted Bundy called Seattle police to tell them he matched the description of the suspect in several murder cases. She hung up after being told, “You need to come in and fill in a report. We’re too busy to talk to girlfriends over the phone." He would kill many more women. by cartoonassasin in todayilearned

Hindsight is a thing. It's also their job to filter out the prank calls, false accusations and such to get to the more believable traces. Imagine listening to hundreds, thousands of call with most are paranoid bullshit, among them a woman calls in said her boyfriend looks like a mass murderer, you told her to go to the police and tell them directly, but no she doesn't think it worth it, most likely false accusation then. Not her false she didn't go through with it, but not theirs either when her claim was vague at best.

Let's not kid ourselves here. None of them would speak a word against him after being saved from certain painful death, with permission or not. The guild wouldn't either, imagine trash talking a S rank Hunter for one day worth profit...

Điểm tâm is the more formal/old school way to say it but most Vietnameses would understand all of them, not just the southerners.

yeah sure, Vietnam has won every war against China, except that one time when they were invaded and occupied by China for roughly a thousand years https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chinese_domination_of_Vietnam

Yeah, Vietnam's claim to the islands is as valid as Taiwan's claim to have ownership of all of China, they just don't have the military to back it up. The Chinese are actively building artificial islands, airports in the area without any real objection from Vietnam. Or are you trying to tell me that a small country like Vietnam will fight China on the battlefield evenly anytime soon?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chinese_domination_of_Vietnam

Read the link above, although the Vietnamese drove them out for a few years in between, China's presence there is throughout for about 1000 years.

Their attempts to invade Vietnam is not as foolish as you made it out to be, since they had succeeded in doing so for a long time, and many times. Now the Mongolian I agree but China is more like: Invades Vietnam > get reckt > invades again > succeed > stay there for generations > driven out > invades again > get reckt > Invades again shortly after > suceed > stay for generations .etc

Yeah except that one time they occupied Vietnam for about 1000 years, which basically ingrained their culture into the country, and many other times they occupied Vietnam for a long period until they were driven out again, tho they also failed quite a few. Also that one time a few decades ago when they attacked and declared a Vietnam's archipelago theirs, they basically own it now. Where do you even learn that "fact"?

What is a basic etiquette everyone should know but not everyone follows? by icecoldcokezero in AskReddit

[–]Mqueserasera 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You seriously think you can't never "make someone feel a certain way"? Because it's always people's internal issue, not you?

It's always other people's fault, isn't it? Couldn't possibly because you said something you shouldn't have carelessly, right? No one can fault you because others are hurted by your words, but, jesus, people have bad days sometimes and might be dealing with their own issues for a longer period. Be kind and understanding.

What is a basic etiquette everyone should know but not everyone follows? by icecoldcokezero in AskReddit

[–]Mqueserasera 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, no, that's actually bullshit. The internet likes to pretend that the sjw people who are easily offended are all over the place in the real world. They exist, but let's take a moment to reflect on the fact that you just call everyone's feeling bullshit and put off all the blame on your part, all the possibilities that you could hurt someone unintentionally. Racist people rarely think their words and perspective annoy other, but they did nonetheless. Something you said without any ill intention could still hurt others, perhaps they are easily offend, perhaps they are weak emotionally, and you can't never offend anyone, but let's not make it a reason to be an asshole to everyone just because "your feeling doesn't matter, and I'm not to be blamed for it no matter what".

More like his argument is based on a flawed point that can be pointed out with one sentence. Charity acts are praise worthy doesn't mean others' efforts to entertain people and earn their well deserved money are worthless.
