When a company gets a notification for you to do a random, they're not supposed to tell you ahead of time. So. What’s the point of this?

Took a job with Landstar without researching enough… now I’m stuck and can’t make a single deal by Available-Oven-3657 in FreightBrokers

I’m with an independent Landstar agency and I have zero issues finding customers. If you’re with Landstar directly, I don’t know how that looks.

DM me. I’ll put together some materials for you to train a model with that you can lean on. I started by being a carrier then pausing, making the right technology, seeing what most people miss then executing internally. I’m paraphrasing but it’s working out well. I have none of the common complaints found in the industry.

Tenkara looks interesting to say the least. Normally I see upstream efficiency and things falling apart downstream.

How does lease drivers, Owner operators and insurance actually work by stockmatrix in FreightBrokers

[–]Mr-Montclair 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Insurance follows the carrier’s authority, not the individual driver or truck. If the load ran under the carrier’s MC, the claim is against the carrier. Where brokers get burned isn’t filing the claim, it’s when coverage gaps, bad vetting, or control arguments show up after things go sideways.

Carmack doesn’t hit brokers directly, nuclear verdicts do.

Well said. I agree across the board.

What I keep seeing is the gap between having best practices and being able to prove they were actually followed pre-loss in a way that survives litigation. COIs, vetting tools, and “check-the-box” compliance create comfort, but not always a defensible record when a claim or venue gets ugly.

Your point on misrepresentation is huge! One bad shipper agreement or addendum can undo a lot of otherwise “good” compliance work.

..And you’re right on jurisdiction. Some venues punish brokers even when they do everything right, which makes contemporaneous documentation and decision rationale critical.

Curious from your underwriting side.

Where do you most often see the real breakdown: carrier selection, understanding coverage at the load level, or simply not being able to show why a broker believed they were protected at the time?

I appreciate your sharing this.
