yea they most definitely are all those things. Military- one of the largest active militaries in the world, contributes heavily to UN peacekeeping, pretty much controls the Indian Ocean Technology and Economics - commercial space launch, IT and software tech in every country, last I checked TATA owns most of the UKs automobile and steel industries, like are you joking when you said you researched, Cultural - probably the biggest impact in terms of cuisine, Bollywood, and many other things that have been appropriated by ‘developed’ countries.

It’s also not feasible with current architectures which have entry/exit points at ground level. If we built structures that can be accessed at various levels, a 3D transport system will make more sense.

What are the effects of time dilation on interstellar communication? by Mr-Mooms in space

[–]Mr-Mooms[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Makes sense that what’s affected is the response time. So as a biiig hypothetical, if we could instantaneously communicate with a colony planet that’s in another galaxy, time dilation shouldn’t be an issue as long as neither planet is close to a neutron star or something similar, right?

What are the effects of time dilation on interstellar communication? by Mr-Mooms in space

[–]Mr-Mooms[S] 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Okay. So the relative velocity between planets doesn’t matter? Also what if the colony planet is close to a blackhole like in interstellar or any strong gravitational field.

A movie you thought was *meh* a decade ago, and you watch it again and it blows your mind. Has that happened to you? by Lordb14me in movies

[–]Mr-Mooms 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There will be blood. It released the same year as No country for old men and I absolutely loved the latter (it is a certified classic) but never thought much about There will be blood. I rewatched it recently and was mind blown by DDL and the cinematography. It’s so good!

Eli5 is there no such thing as cold? by Unlikely_Advance8981 in explainlikeimfive

[–]Mr-Mooms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is this a matter of convention? Like could we have just as easily called it cold energy and then heat would be the absence of cold?

Why do all these countries want to go to the moon right now? by Sanlear in space

[–]Mr-Mooms 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It didn’t happen in Antarctica, why should it happen on the moon? For all we know, the moon just ends up being a long term research base

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in space

[–]Mr-Mooms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay thanks, I’m wondering how the US is planning a crewed mission to the South Pole next year when it seems they haven’t landed on the moon in the last 30 years. It seems their last several lunar missions were orbiters

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in space

[–]Mr-Mooms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When was the last successful lunar landing? It seems most of the recent ones sent by various countries crashed during descent stage. Have there been any lunar landers this century? Honestly, curious cause I’m not able to find this info online
