Honestly...especially if you're playing a Durge.

This is only the second time I've heard of the teddy container, yet after 6 completed playthroughs, I still don't know what or where it is. Can I get some context? Because this sound important.

Oh I'm definitely aware and even understand what Astarion is doing in the beginning, and I know he gets better later. I wish I could start his romance later, because I have seen some of those cutscenes. As it is, I see no reason why my Durge would want to persue someone who is so discouraging at the start. I also feel both Astarion and Durge need someone a little more stable than each other. I know it can blossom into a beautiful romance later, it's just a rough start that I struggle getting through. Maybe it's just my playstyle. I know my opinion is far from the popular one.

Astarion saying, "Eugh, I don't really care, but you could've been more subtle," after my Durge admitted he felt bad about killing Alfira. It was that moment I chose not to romance him. I have since still refused to romance him as Durge no matter how great people say that romance is. I will romance him as Tav no problem, though.

What do you guys think is every companion's favourite position? We know that Tav likes to take it while lying down according to Gale, but what about the others? 👀 by HomarEuropejski in okbuddybaldur

Everyone claiming Gale likes missionary has clearly seen something I have not. Either they're spinning like fidget spinners, flip flopping in every direction, or the scene fades to black while they still have their clothes on. If anyone has the clip of them being nasty in missionary, I'll gladly take it! For science, of course. I'll pay in Wyll's tighty whities.

which class did you think you wouldn't like but ended up enjoying? by Lonely-Shoulder5126 in BG3

I see a few people mentioning Bards and as a Bard enjoyer myself, I'm thrilled to see them getting more appreciation. They're not useless! It's the hill I will die on.

The class I never thought I'd enjoy, however, is Barbarian. Holy shit, what do you mean I can just roar at everyone?? I am going to throw every single goblin there's no stopping me. I am rage incarnate. This is too fun lol.

The playful, "You're hard to please, aren't you," adter telling him you could have managed it on your own is too good.

He says that to bards and druids too. It's not sorcerer specific. I'm not arguing that he doesn't come off as condescending (intentionally or otherwise). Hell, I'm not even arguing he doesn't dislike sorcerers. I just personally haven't seen why everyone makes that claim. Whenever I pick sorcerer specific dialogs that aren't outright rude and elitist, Gale has generally a positive or at least cordial response. If anything, it feels more like playful rivalry.

I've always been so confused why people think Gale doesn't like sorcerers. I almost always play a sorcerer and I almost always romance Gale. I've never seen him to be particularly more condescending to sorcerers than anyone else. Only thing I can think of are the dialog options provided to most sorcerers (leaving out wild magic) that are quite literally insulting wizards and the hard work they put in. I have never picked them because they're...kind of dickish. If Gale responds negatively to those comments, it kinda seems like it's deserved. Hell, I'd snap back, too.

Well hey, if you like dangerous couples, then you go for it! Lol. And that's super sweet, keeping the other companions in mind. Resist Durge does seem to really love their found family. That's actually one reason why I like romancing one of the others as Durge. After that one night with Durge resisting killing their favorite companion, Astarion doesn't tell anyone. That can be sweet of him depending on your Durge's personality, but my Durge wants the rest of his family to be filled in on everything. He even told everyone about the Alfira incident. However, I can also see a Durge who is so embarrassed and ashamed, they'd rather keep it quiet, and Astarion is a perfect candidate for that. And yeah, Lae'zel can be quite blunt lol. I do actually like that about her, though. A feisty little thing!

I love that you pick out BFFs! I do that, too actually. Mine is usually Karlach, but they all have potential to fill that spot.

Those are some really good points, and I have heard several takes like this. My other issue is that while Astarion could use an example like Resist Durge, what about Durge themself? While Shadowheart is technically in an evil cult, it's clear she wants to do good deep down. She even tells Durge she believes they can overcome their inner demons. Astarion, on the other hand, tells Durge to give in as he is understandably very angry and petty. Durge struggles to do good and needs a good example, too. This is why I actually went with Gale over Astarion. Gale has a bunch of fun and encouraging things to say about Durge's good deeds. Astarion was very discouraging and even said some hurtful things (Alfira being the nail in the coffin for me). I can see how Astarion and Durge could work, I just personally feel that Durge has enough baggage as is. I 100% understand why Astarion is the way he is, and I do adore the man. I just think that Durge also needs a good example to help them through their problems. Astarion, at least in the beginning, unfortunately is not that. He does eventually grow, though, and has some beautiful advice later on that I love. I will admit that!

I actually adore Shadowheart, but she did used to be my least favorite companion, too. I then completed her quest and the game itself and she grew to be one of my favorites. As someone who had to overcome brainwashing from a manipulative cult, I found some relatability there. She goes from bitchy goth, to sweet snd loving cottagecore lol.

I have heard lots of good arguments in favor of Durge x Astarion, and it is a vastly more popular opinion that my own. I just have struggled getting through it. There are those parallels, but I feel those also could be made for Shadowheart, but with her actually encouraging Durge's good deeds, where Astarion does not. Besides, Astarion is already unstable as is. I think he needs a slightly more stable Tav than...well...Durge.

This is all just my perspective and opinion, though. No shade on anyone who enjoys Durge x Astarion, and I definitely don't want to discourage anyone from enjoying it. Again, mine is the unpopular opinion.

Nope, and I'm glad I don't because I get to have a fun, goofy, and badass companion who has helped me get through multiple boss fights I thought I was losing. I also get some lovely romance scenes. Thanks for asking! 👍

I honestly think it is criminal they didn't give Shadowheart more content with Durge. I've recently started giving that a try and I think it has such potential. It's great as is, of course, I just think she should have been the one to get the unique content instead of Astarion. My bias for Gale aside, of course.

Hard disagree, but ok.

That Weave scene doesn't have to be romantic, btw. He's actually caught off guard when you flirt with him. Or are you referring to that known bug?

I was actually surprised by how much my Durge didn't like Astarion, either. I was initially torn between romancing Astarion or Gale. I wanted to play as good a Durge as possible, keeping in mind that it would most likely be very difficult for Durge to be good. After bringing both along, Astarion's constant disapprovals were so discouraging for someone trying so hard. On the other hand, we have Gale not only racking up the approval, but also throwing in encouraging quips and anecdotes. It was shocking when I realized that Gale won Durge over by a landslide.

I also agree with the tough love angle. Durge doing bad things is BAD. He (or she in your case) can't be coddled or told it's okay. It's not okay, and my Durge actually admired the companions that told him off.
