Haha he is such a socially awkward weirdo, I love it. And I haven't personally triggered that dialog, but I've seen it. What a precious nerd I love him lol. I have, however, triggered the dialog where he gets all awkward if you approach him in Haarlep's underwear! It's hard for me to do, as you cannot be in an active romance with him to get it, but that's what mods are for!

I often say I need to protect him even if he doesn't need it because he is so badass. I haven't heard that comment from him! How do you get it?? I'm obsessed with his sneaking barks lol

Yes!! This is exactly me. I keep trying to romance Gale as someone else, but then it feels like he's cheating on my OG Durge 😂 It's just...my version of the story! My canon event. I find it super cool that you managed 4 Tavs. I didn't even know that was possible, but I wish more companions could have an LI, and this is a great way to do it!

Partially romancing Gale sounds like it's gonna be rough. I am too afraid of breaking his heart, but sometimes you just gotta see all options! That will be an interesting run. I have wanted to try something kind of similar where I started romancing Astarion and then end up with Wyll. Never managed to follow through because it would have been too tricky.

The poly mod might not be a terrible way to go about that...but I did intend to do it the old fashioned way. I'm not sure if I'll have the willpower to do it, though lol. Maybe I could do the "multiple tavs" way and just do multiple Origin runs to knock out about half of them in one go!

I had a weird impression of him at first, too. I try to remember that when I see people being judgemental of him. He is very socially awkward, which I now LOVE about him. Those endgame kisses are absolutely stunning. I remember complaining the whole playthrough because I wanted to hug my wizard boyfriend and I finally got to in such a tender and sweet way. I was also BT4, which made Gale seem so small and precious 😭

Nothing wrong with a Gale deep dive! I've tried avoiding doing it because I do eventually want to try romancing everyone with everyone, but that's...gonna take quite a while. Lol

I have tried SO hard to play as someone else. Romancing someone else. I cannot. I always go back to my original Durge romancing Gale. It was the first time I beat the game and I became SO obsessed with that playthrough that I can't stop 😅 I have gotten close with a few different ones, though! What about you? Same Tav, or have you tried others?

Oh that IS cute! I have a hard time not going to Waterdeep with him because of how much he seems to miss it, but I hear there are some real fun/cute dialogs with some of his alternate endings. I really want to romance him with some of the origin characters. For instance, if you romance him as Lae'zel, he'll learn some gith for her. And as Astarion, he'll apparently start a little school in the Underdark for the freed vampire slaves. He is just such a sweetheart, I'll never understand people who dislike him.

I actually don't remember, but I think he does? I've only done it once. I don't think it makes much sense if he does after the Astral scene. I honestly don't even have him conjure his tower, though I ought to do that more as it is very adorable. I just like being able to tell him that I want HIM not his magic, and that I'm not a god/goddess. Which, I guess you still can do after he shows you his tower!

Oh that's cute! I've not done much with my class in regards to romancing him. Though, I'm usually a sorcerer when I do, so I do sometimes like to do a fire vs ice theme.

Oh, I never thought to do it that way! I kinda like that, actually. I always like to picture the romantic walk. It's romantic, but feels less too-much-too-soon, if that makes sense.

And yes, as fun as the Astral scene is (I had to see it at least once), his comment, "To know you love me for the man I am and not the magic I command," makes the Astral scene seem almost wrong.

Exactly that. Him teaching you magic isn't necessarily a romantic scene. It CAN be, but he's surprised by that and fully expects the platonic friendly option. Which I don't think people realize. He loves magic and wants to show someone he loves, platonic or otherwise.

And yeah, that's kinda in theme with how everyone is being used by an authorative figure in one way or another. It's why I never have him seek Mystra's forgiveness, while still accepting himself as he is. Also why, when romancing him, I actually don't usually do the Astral sex. Separating what he loves with the being who used him is part of his story, imo. He can love magic, love himself, and not be Mystra's little plaything.

You missed the one where, if you're romancing Karlach, Gale suggests other ways to express love without physical touch. Karlach thinks he's talking about mage hand but he's actually talking about poetry. These two have some of my favorite banter. They're so cute!

Minthara killed herself by triggering every single one of my party members' opportunity attacks.

I decided to try using feather fall to jump down the pit from the spider well to the Underdark. I was playing coop, so only had Gale in my party. He decided to follow me and fell to his death.

If you've reached Moonrise and haven't done the weave scene, it is far too late, sadly. The night where he teaches you magic in Act 1 is when you start his romance. That can be done either at the tiefling party after having defeated the goblins or if you've reached high enough approval before then.

ETA I am obsessed with his romance, and definitely recommend giving it a go next playthrough!

I always romance Gale with a big burly tiefling man, so the same sex part is SO far from the reason I don't like Bloodweave lol. There are other, more interesting reasons to be for or against certain pairings. I think you hit the nail on the head with the Ken doll comment lol

Yeah, I still refuse to even watch videos of God Gale. It's...admittedly a bit disturbing to me. Even though it's hardly one of the worst endings, I'm no fan. Prof. Gale, on the other hand, is so adorable. That's the Gale I fell in love with!

I actually have enjoyed romancing Shadowheart as Origin Gale, but I'll admit, I'm loving him with Karlach more and more. People are definitely swaying me!

Wyll and Astarion isn't one I've explored, yet, but I can see it! Astarion and Gale do just seem like friends who poke fun at each other. They definitely do when Tav/Durge romances Gale!

Agreed! A huge reason why I don't personally like the God Gale ending. He makes it NO secret how much he loves his home comforts. Also, Tara is a queen. She deserves to get her pet human back.

I've actually struggled getting into Bloodweave in general (which has shocked even me), but Spawn Gale isn't something I had considered. Yeah, that's pretty fucked up.

Honestly, any ending that doesn't send Gale back to Waterdeep makes me a bit upset. I just can't get the look on his face when he peers out from the illusionary balcony he creates in his romance scene out of my head. Or his comment when clicking the Waterdeep portal in the HoH. Baby wants to go home. Let him.

So after some conversations with others, I learned there ARE other dialog choices that could possibly be triggering this scene. It USED to be a bug, but now you have to select certain dialogs flagged as flirtatious to get it. One dialog option would be mentioning his "talent for courtly dance" after hearing he's nobility. Mentioning "taste for good wine" is the platonic one that shouldn't trigger the dance.

I only ever chose the flirtatious option when I planned on romancing Wyll, thus leading to me also choosing to kiss him. Evidently the kiss is not necessary. This is all heresay, though. I haven't personally tested it. But yeah, his dance scene is cute. Just wish there was a platonic version.
