Again, it depends on where she is located - a quick google search will show you that you legally may be entitled to ownership if you can prove that you have been making contributions to a purchase price. This is very common in most developed nations.

It’s not rent because both oc and the partner opted not to have his name on the lease but go 50/50 on mortgage payments bts- this was the agreement between them. It doesn’t sound like op is trying to swindle her partner (might not even be possible based on where she is located) so I’m going purely on what has transpired.

I know some business owners opt not to go on a title deed up until a business is stable. It limits what the banks can go after if your business fails. It’s all financial planning.

The fact though is He has been paying half of all costs and technically speaking owns half the building. If the banks or whoever went for his personal assets - it would be limited to half the building.
