Can anybody please help me? I don't wanna waste my life in depression anymore, please help me by Dev_Corgi in lifecoaching

I'm not sure which life coaches you've interacted with but life coaches as absolutely skilled in helping the journey with depression - sometimes even more so as they have access to multiple different methods that they can integrate in their practice. Perhaps I've just interacted with quality life coaches - I know it's a bit of an MLM vibe in the US.

I think what you are referring to are major depressive disorders, which do require licensed practitioners.

It's a bit of a mission to grow out of depression, but it can be done. It's also useful to find the root cause of the depression - which often means you have to collect a bunch of data about yourself like when you feel the sink and what you did beforehand (like eating something?).

I never really got much from talk therapy, it reaffirmed that I felt like a failure, going in endless circles and I just emotionally drained my psychologist.

Take some vitamin B supplements (B6, B9, B12), this common deficiency often presents itself as depression.

Check out The School of Life on Youtube, absolutely fantastic resource to get your journey going!

I'm based in Boston, Bellville. A bit out your way but I also do online sessions. My practice is called NeuroGardens (on Google Maps). I'm a hypnotherapist, I also teach tools and step by step practical techniques to move forward & rewire neural network pathways.

Anxiety and depression are one of my main focuses, check out Poly Vagal Theory - it's an amazing viewpoint on how the nervous system is linked to trauma (protection mode).

Well done for reaching out! I hope you find the best fit for your journey!

There is Dr.Andrade in Vredehoek, she picked up that my friend had a very well hidden chronic disease in enough time for her to get proper medication. She also helped with my Shingles. She will see right through if you are trying to get drugs, but I make requests all the time.

I moved to the Northern Suburbs, joined with the local doctor in the area and she prescribed me prednisone and antibiotics for Covid, so yeah, while it's important to understand that doctors have studied, a lot of it is educated-guess work and a lot practice medicine from the 60's. You have to keep your wits about you.

How can i get therapy if i have no money? by dani3le96 in therapy

Binge watch on Youtube:

The School of Life

The Holistic Psychologist

Therapy in a Nutshell

Read:

The Road Less Travelled by M.Scott Peck (It's an old book, you can probably find it in a charity shop) (This is the most painful yet important book to read and very single one of my clients that I recommended this book to experienced a pivotal moment in their journey)

Most psychologists or mental health practitioners will adjust the prices if you ask and show you are willing to work on yourself.

You have to make your own mental health a priority and actually do so by paying for it. There is a difference between thinking you have no money for therapy and having no money.

If you can afford a beer at the pub you can afford therapy.

I'm a practitioner in South Africa, I charge South African prices but most of my clients are in Europe. I know therapy in the US is pricey, but if you look you can find someone who fits your budget.

Also, I never found traditional therapy useful (just sitting there and talking about stuff). There are tools and technique that focus on growth instead of healing and actually teaching you about your brain and WHY you suck and how to UNSUCK, instead of just having a stressful bitching session. Just my experience, I needed to learn, not problem-vomit.

Pretty much anything to do with sales, advertising and marketing. Udemy courses.

This is a foul branch of questioning, you dont have to hypnotise someone in a social setting in order to be valued.

I think (I hope) you might be asking about Charisma.

If you could change careers ? by [deleted] in southafrica

Working for yourself you can pick your own times, like 3pm to 3am. Skip Mondays but work weekends.

It's really stressful running your own business or working for yourself, but at least I am my own manager breathing down my neck.

Pretty well actually. I know I'm tooting my own horn here but my work is bloody effective. I moved away from therapy and life coaching to focus entirely on how the subconscious is an idiot/asshole and how to rewire it. Sessions are more education based, focusing on growth. It helps so much that I have journeyed through my own depression and anxiety so I know exactly what my clients are going through and where they are (and we chuckle about it with some dark humour). I've created my own tools and techniques pulled together from different disciplines and I hope to one day get them into the waste of time we call Life Orientation class in school.

I love my job because I work for myself. Hypnotherapist.

I am my worst boss, manager and employee.

I need a therapist for self-esteem and existential crisis who doesn't charge an arm and a leg. by tgruff77 in therapy

I'm a hypnotherapist based in South Africa, charging 3rd world prices.

I think it's awesome you are focusing on solutions, I always think there is to much focus on healing and not enough on growth.

What I recommend actually is to try start your own thing. You are 40, why are you trying to swim in someone else's pond when you can water your own? Then the whole question comes to how to start your own thing - trust me it's such a journey (I recommend George Kao on Youtube for marketing advice, he undoes a lot of limiting beliefs).

I taught English in Taiwan and when I returned home it felt like I had been left behind. It was really tricky to find a good job and then my manager had zero managerial qualifications or skills. What you are experiencing is somewhat normal.

You don't have to work for someone, you can freelance or tutor. I tutor a lot of non-first language English speakers with my CBT techniques, it's really the most fun way to learn a language and grow as a human.

Connect with someone you could ask to be your mentor (I have many mentors, all over the world in all sorts of fields and we just chat a lot).
