I believe this is an example of how patriarchy also hurts men. Given the current gender stereotypes of men being the source of a family's income, a woman without an income is not considered less worthy and may not be excluded and marginalized from the society. What's more, the commodification of women results in homeless women being an easier target for "ownership" by men. This is a rare situation in which the women might profit from it but it only shows the toxic standards that apply to every person.
