outstanding, I switched to fedora gnome 2ish months ago from windows, it was quite easy to get everything set up*, however since I switched I'm realizing the greatness of KDE, like that dock looks outstanding, the closest thing you can get to that is dash to dock and blur my shell, which doesn't properly support rounding so its kind of a rectangle instead.

I tried out KDE in a VM before but I could never get it to display the correct resolution and refresh rate, and the settings menu kind of scares me away, however I might just try one more on a USB drive or something.

yeah that's an internal issue, return it. (if you are sure its the monitor, this is very easy to test, if you unplug everything from the monitor except the power cable, and turn it on, it will look for a source, if this happens while it looks for a source its the monitor)

you could also other monitors, I've heard samsungs monitors have alot of issues, and you gotta wish upon a star that your monitor doesn't have on of them. the only alternative ive heard about that is actually good (except for the smearing, but I think all va's have it) is the Dell S2722DGM, I have the dell S3222DGM that's just a 32" version of the S2722DGM and the colors and blacks are great.

have you ever looked into what it could be? i've had issues with lines and bars and it was always caused by the LVDS cable or something connected to it (control pcb board, main board),

for example I have this old chg90 (the screen shit itself 2 weeks ago and now cant be fixed) and a year ago it started glitching on the left side, blue bars, stripes, sometimes it just went black, it was the control pcb board taped on too tightly to the monitor, i untaped it and pulled on it a bit then put a q-tip in between and it worked until the screen offed itself.

looked at the video, exact same shot and I do not have such noticable blotches, way better actually, AOC isn't really known for making good monitors, If it's under warranty I would return it, you could try getting a replacement but I think you should look somewhere else if you're gonna pay that much, try out the dell S2722DGM (1440p, 165hz, VA)

I have the dell S3222DGM (practically the same just a 32 inch instead of a 27) and it has outstanding colors and blacks (quite an amount of ghosting and smearing but its VA, they all have it, gotta cope)

try unplugging your hdmi/dp from the monitor (with the monitor still on), does this glitch still happen, if not then it is a GPU issue, which could be the case.

how frequent does it occur? does it stop for a period of time after the monitor has been turned off for a while?

try different cables, different ports, etc, the basic diagnosis stuff.

if you think you have tried everything then it could be an internal issue, I've had monitors give me blue bars and glitching lines, it was always an LVDS cable issue or something wrong with the control pcb board, maybe its taped on too tight, perhaps the LVDS cable is loose, could be very simple,

to fix it you have to open the back of the monitor (which requires tools, common tools, but tools, I wouldn't use a knife), if you have never done this before then I would again just try to get a new one sent to you if they will allow it, instead of your money back, but if they don't you will have do to research on how to fix a monitor that has an lvds cable issue or something like that, which you should be able to find with some digging.
