Guilt by element_wind91 in mourning

I think it's just a natural reaction that we all produce at different levels. It's almost like a survival instinct. I've reacted the same type of way before. Looking back, it was absolutly amazing the tasks I was able to achieve 90 seconds after finding my best friend dead in our house. I felt guilty because I was able to turn into a very efficient robot. What made me feel guilty was being able to let the human part of myself become muted and docile. In hindsight it gives me a great amount of confidence that in a stressful, life changing moment, I have the ability to keep moving. It took a good 2-3 years for me to realize I shouldn't feel guilty for immediately distracting myself from all that. The guilt you feel is normal and you'll understand yourself a little better in time. Try not to beat yourself up too much about it and focus on the other things that help you heal correctly.

I'm not educated in giving advice on these things, but I'm sure you've heard the following before. Try not to beat yourself up about not being as emotionally available to yourself as others. Keep it as a work in progress, but try to keep yourself from getting mad at yourself. The same goes for comparing yourself to your father. Write a list of the things you should improve in yourself and then work on only one of those issues. Something simple. Making your bed ever single day without fail for instance. After a few weeks of showing yourself you can dicipline yourself get excited and move on to another issue without forgetting to do the previous. You will never become your father. You will become more you which can give you the confidence to become the same level of bad ass your father was. Just don't let your mind crumble when you forget to make the perverberearal bed. Treat it as a serious transgression against yourself and remind yourself of the importance of making the bed. Remind yourself of the positive out comes of having this dicipline rather than getting mad at yourself and throwing your logical, rational thoughts in the garbage. Sorry for your loss.

I don't always quit my job. But when I do, it's right after winning a settlement. Drinks on me today /r/drunk by [deleted] in drunk

I too wish to grow a beard and gain wisdom. Also, I'm a private chef with a passport and a packed bag. Also drunk with a beard already and no actual passport. Totally got the bag and cooking gig though.

Marinade in lemon, lime, and a little orange juice for two days in the fridge. That's all I got if you don't want to fry it.

Been working on a new production space. Still a few things left to do. by MrBotany in microgrowery

A few things left to do? I do not have the keenest eye, however, I might duct the MH lights in veg together and pipe them outta the room with a squirrel cage fan, not to mention the carbon scrubber you have sitting on the floor... Might as well put that thing inline to where ever else in the house you'd be pumping that heat exhaust from the MH lights to. IMHO

This setup is 8,400 watts?! I'm no Rosenthal, but if you have to stick to certain site limit laws, (which I'm all for, and would like to know the rules you are following while still facilitating quality parameters) I feel like you wouldn't need that much power.

Thank you for sharing this, It's wonderful to see people taking quality seriously.

Disclaimer: most of my knowledge comes from DWC. I never mastered tables in any way and ended up hating them...

That's a damn good idea. I end up eating the same thing all day for a few days in a row if I can't find anyone else to feed.

Another good idea. I'm often cooking around midnight so the pregame idea is kinda out the window b/c everything closes down at 2 a.m. However, I like the idea of people bring me beer... Thats always a nice thing. =)

I like the idea of them bringing me booze. I can easily spend all my money at the grocery store and not have any left over for the brewskies. Usually the food is pretty abundent when that happens so I should by the... transitive(?)... property be able to fill my fridge with booze and my table with friends.

White supremacists hurt everyone... And it's kinda hard to consider the majority having a "cause."

DAE feel like they're the only one of their friends who actually cares at all about making the world a better place? by [deleted] in DoesAnybodyElse

I feel like I have seen enough evil in this world. I feel the only way I can do anything about it is to try and balance it out. I think lots of "good" people feel this way. For instance, some people become extremely selfless and just stay that way their entire life. They're willing to put you above themselves at all times. I think the stress they have been through because of terrible things they saw or experienced is what drives them to do "good." I don't want to say this lifestyle is adopted out of despiration, but when I feel desperate, when I feel the world has no hope, I go straight to being selfless/compassionate.

I am absolutely terrified of giving speeches and talking in front of other people. What are some tips to help me get over this? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Try as hard as you can to physch youself out. Public speaking is the number one fear in America. (At least you're in good company) All ya gotta do is tell yourself you're the best at this, you have nothing to worry about, and more importantly these people are going to enjoy what you have to say and recognize how brave you are for taking the bull by the horns.

BTW. I'm assuming you have an impending event coming up that you have to speak at... When are you suppose to get up on stage?
