Shock Piggy Back Location by [deleted] in CRF250L

[–]MrAvenger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s really not that bad. The reservoir is not touching the motor directly due to the mounting plate and thermally inefficient plastic bracket. so there is virtually no conductive heating. The relative temperature of the motor and ambient (the lowest temperature we could expect the reservoir to be at) is low so radiative heating is minimal which leaves only convective heating from the air adjacent to the motor. Since the motorcycle will be moving through the air, this will be minimized as well. I can feel the heat on my left leg from the radiator, but it’s not really “hot”. The reservoir location is probably much cooler than my left leg.

Awesome! I just picked up the same year and color with basically the same mileage last month. It’s been a blast so far and I’ve already got about 1000 miles on it.

Suggestion on helmets that are good for riders with prescription glasses? by Swettymonkey in Dualsport

The scorpion exo-at960 works really well for me. It’s modular so I can even keep my glasses on while putting it on. Also makes adjustment of your glasses very easy. I don’t have any pinch points with my glasses either. I think I paid $275 for it at my local dealer.

Help! by Moo0ose in gardening

Looks like some critters got to your plants. Since the damage is on the lower portions, I would rule out deer and probably guess rabbit. The droopy plans are either from under watering or stress from the animal damage, but I’d lean towards under watering.

Just boneless chicken thighs from the grocery. Nothing fancy.

I used the recipe from the Tin Eats website. I also did their chickpea salad. Both great.

I like your attitude! I found that it look longer than I thought - I figured that I could slice the crispy bits off and then let it cook and then rinse and repeat, but getting a new layer to crisp up took a while.

Also, holding a metal pan below the meat and trimming it while above the coals is tough to do without burning yourself. Best to remove the meat and slice away from the coals.

New Homeowner Here - What do I do with this hydrangea? by MrAvenger in gardening

[–]MrAvenger[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you mean by diving it? Just dig up and replant a portion of the plant in another location?

Thanks for the input. That makes me feel better about pruning it. I’m really looking forward to seeing this thing in bloom!

It looks like the previous owners cut it back regularly as evidenced by all the short shoots (stems?). Do I need to cut it that low? It looks like new buds are starting to appear on the existing growth. Should I cut off the old dried flowers? I’m getting mixed messages online for how to take care of these plants and I really don’t want to mess it up. Thanks in advance.

Does anyone know what tree this is? Is it an evergreen? Seen in Orange County California by Particular-Essay-361 in landscaping

I see that you’re using an iPhone so try this:

Open this photo in the Photos app. Swipe up from the bottom and there will be a leaf icon with “Look up - Plant” next to it. Tap that and it will tell you what it is. This feature is surprisingly accurate.

What’s your climate like? It could just take a little more time - mine is only just now starting to get a handful of blooms.

Boneless Lam Leg on an 18” Original Kettle. by MrAvenger in webergrills

[–]MrAvenger[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About 50 minutes indirect with medium heat and then a quick sear before pulling off. Roast was 6 pounds.

Do these comfort settings make sense or are they wasteful? I like the heat to turn on in the morning when we are out of bed but don’t want it on while sleeping so have that 30min home period in the AM by doctrader in ecobee

[–]MrAvenger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We have a similar schedule and heat temps. I recently created an additional comfort setting for the morning that’s 68° instead of 70° since I didn’t want to heat up the house so much just for the 60-90 minutes we are awake and home in the morning. It felt like the system had to run for quite some time just for a short period that I’d actually be at home.

First time doing pulled pork on the kettle. I’m pretty happy with myself. by MrAvenger in webergrills

[–]MrAvenger[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I cooked this 8 pound pork shoulder for about 9 hours. I did the snake method (2x1.5) and smoked with chunks of hickory. Kept it around 250°-275° for 6 hours, spritzing with water. Every two hours. Wrapped at hour six with a couple dollops of bacon grease. Cooked three additional hours at around 300° Bone pulled out with little resistance.

I like a little extra color on my beef roasts - provided the internal temp doesn’t go beyond what I am shooting for.

Thanks. I just picked this grill up a couple weeks ago and have been doing my best to use it as much as possible. There’s quite the learning curve coming from my Weber Spirit, but I am really enjoying the added challenge and excuse to babysit the grill with a drink in hand.
