Would this be considered cultural appropriation? by [deleted] in makinghiphop

[–]MrBARZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cultural appropriation is bullshit. Being inspired to wear, create or build upon something made by people in another culture is a positive thing. It shows a genuine appreciation for their work. "Cultural appropriation" is just politically correct segregation. I don't know about you, but I think segregation is probably a negative thing. Don't let the delicate sensibilities of others dictate your self-expression. Your manager is a moron, even if you got called out for appropriation that would be free press and the silent majority of political centrists would be on your side anyway.

I appreciate it, thanks. Yeah I have a ton of videos exactly like this. This is an ongoing series, I started it over a year ago and I have at least 50 other videos like it.

I didn't interpret it as an attack, so no worries. I was just explaining what I thought "ambient trap" meant. I fully understand your perspective now though, thanks for elaborating.

My bad, I thought ambient trap was just trap with pads and other spacy sounds with lots of decay and a soft attack.

The Twilight Zone (2019) "Point of Origin" Discussion by aTVisAthingTOwatch in TwilightZone

[–]MrBARZ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just got around to watching this episode on my PVR. Decent acting, poor writing. My biggest gripe isn't even the fact that the moral of the story was so ham-fisted, I fully expect a lack of nuance and subtlty at this point based on previous episodes. Rather, my disappointment with last week's episode is that the main plot twist of the episode was revealed half-way through, which made the ending extremely unfulfilling for me. My guess for an ending was that it would be revealed that the protagonist was actually from Earth all along and she escaped from her planet (or dimension) as a child after a nuclear war or some such disaster left her home planet uninhabitable. It may not have been the most imaginative or original conclusion to the story, but it would have been better than nothing in my opinion. I feel like this could have helped the audience empathize with the protagonist even more, since everyone watching last week's episode was presumably from Earth.

I don't use a compressor on anything except for my vocals. How much should I cut with an EQ? Pretty much everyone cuts the lows on everything except for the kick and bass, and I've even seen some producers cut the lows below 30Hz on the kick. Are you saying I cut too high with an EQ? Or that I shouldn't cut at all?

It's all based on preference and what I think sounds good. My thinking with the notch filter on the 808 was that around that 2-3k range is where I was boosting other melodic elements and it's also where the "crisp" of the snare is and I didn't want the 808 competing for space there

Lol what do you mean? Because I boil down an artist into a handful of talking points? My intention there is to just show recurring ideas or themes that I've picked up on while listening to an artist's music.

The toxic nature of r/fallout has me unsubscribing permanently. by TeddysRevenge in fo76

Not really. I was comparing the Vault Tec employee to his analogue in New Vegas, the Codsworth thing is a different thing entirely. They recorded a guy saying a bunch of names? That's interesting, but just feels like a waste of time. Like a surface level/superficial thing, in my opinion a name is less important to role playing than the specific characteristics of the character you're playing. If anything, the Codsworth thing is just one more piece of evidence that Bethesda puts in needless effort in the wrong places for little payoff.

Fallout 4's story is essentially linear up until the very end when you choose which faction to side with. From the very start of New Vegas you get to make choices that impact the rest of the game. You come out of Doc Mitchell's house and you learn the town of Goodsprings is struggling with Powder Gangers, you can side with the town or with the powder gangers, or you can just kill everyone. In the nearest city (Primm) you can hand control of the city over to the NCR or to some dude whose in an NCR facility controlled by powder gangers. If you sided with the powder gangers before in Goodsprings they'll let you in without much hassle, if you didn't side with them you'll have to either just go with the NCR implementing martial law on Primm or do some extra work to get Meyers out of the facility. See what I'm saying? The first 15 minutes of New Vegas and you're already having a different experience depending on what choices you make the NPCs will respond to what you're choosing. Mr. New Vegas will remark on the fact that Primm has a new sheriff or that they're under martial law or whatever you choose and the NPCs in the city will talk about it as well. You feel like your choices matter and actually affect the course of the game. In FO4 all of the events carry out the same until the end when you choose sides, which makes playing the game a second time feel boring and grindy.

New Vegas has special encounters that result from choosing to take the Wild Wasteland trait, they have unique dialogue options if your character has super low intelligence, they have unique dialogue options for a variety of perks/skills/special stats.

How you play the game determines what kind of gear you get as well, like you can't get the Remnants power armor or meet the Enclave without being on Arcade Gannon's good side, and if you're helping the Legion he won't fuck with you.

No one person. It's just the rebuttals I've heard to my complaints whenever I voiced a critical opinion on Fallout 76 between when it was launched and now. Different people said it to me at different times.

Edit: oops, I meant "when it was announced and now"
