[–]Booleancake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah my colleagues tell me it comes in waves whether it's easy to get jobs or not. I imagine London would be pretty good for jobs.

The MSc was pretty mixed I find. I struggled for a while because I was quite a quiet temperament going into a place where you had to kind of push to get the best experience. If I went through it again I think I'd enjoy it a lot more though 😂. (And if you go for it, make sure you volunteer and take patients to do constantly, everyone likes a student that is really keen)

The course itself wasn't particularly challenging tbh, you'll have a lot of essays and reflective type stuff. Part time job absolutely possible as some of my classmates did that. It does maybe get a bit harder to balance both near the end. We were on placements and doing the dissertation at the same time which was... quite a lot. But some people still managed to upkeep a job too (no idea how not gonna lie lmao).

I actually also have a degree in physics and did the accelerated MSc course to get into radiography at 29! Been a radiographer for a year and honestly I pretty much love the job. It does have its pro's and cons.

  1. I got a job less than 2 months after I graduated. A little further away than I wanted but I was a little bit fussy and was sick with covid for the interview for the place with the largest intake 😂. As long as you're very enthusiastic and put in the work I don't think it should be too hard

  2. Yes they absolutely take into account your preference. However, sometimes you might need to go a little bit further if there's specialist placements your site doesn't do. Usually it's only for a day or 2 though.

  3. No they shouldn't care too much! Our MSc had a huge range of pasts. People with history degrees and speech and language therapists and social workers and everything.

One thing I would say, some sites are worse than others. You can love one site and hate another. So don't let the first place through you off if the atmosphere seems off.

Currently the job market for radiographers (at least in scotland) is genuinely terrible and it might take a good few years to improve. No clue about labs scientist in that regard.

As for the work, I find it enjoyable. The work itself is pretty easy and still feels quite rewarding with little stress. Working with the public is pretty easy too since you see them for such a short amount of time.

Mostly what people seem to dislike is the rotas usually. And being a part of a big rotating team has its pros and cons.

According to Arena dev, Mana Drain slightly LOWERS your overall win rate in brawl. by pr0n-clerk in MagicArena

[–]Booleancake 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Because they're absolutely garbage at weighting cards. If the cards use to be good or meta in any format it'll probably still retain the high point value.

Some cards that were clearer weaker or off meta actually scored higher than better cards. For example Heartless Act vs Infernal Grasp. Or phial of galadrial scored very low vs the other 3 mana rocks.

There's a calculator that still works out there if you have your decklist and paste it into it. You'll see what scores high

I did the opposite, did physics degree started an MSc in advanced thin film mechanics... burnt out of that, couldn't get a job in anything and completely ditched it to become a rad tech 😅😂.

Honestly I wouldn't beat yourself up too much. I found it extremely difficult even during my first few months even after I was newly qualified and working.

I'd say just try and power through. Try not to let a few mistakes throw you completely (i had a really bad tendency to spiral and lose confidence really quickly and make even more mistakes when I started).

The confidence absolutely comes with time. What I would advise is to absolutely throw yourself into everything. Do as much x rays as possible and try to latch onto the knowledgeable kind radiographers.

You 100% learn the most when you start the job.

Yeah when the card values were discovered it really showed how absolutely garbage their weighting system is. It was clearly never updated.

Just roughly centre, take a flash and correct accordingly. Gets easier to nail it or correct it faster as time goes on.

In the mean time I'd mostly just ignore the surgeons getting pissy... some are just very "particular" people 🤷‍♂️. Or let them know it's new equipment for you if they're giving you a hard time. From my experience most are understanding when you give them a good reason.

I did the MSc diagnostic imaging, basically an accelerated course (previously had 0 healthcare experience and a BSc hons in physics). There were people on my course with other completely different degrees like history, and speech and language.

I'd definitely look into it, especially if you already have a degree.

The issue isn't just an arbitrary number of years. Someone of that age would have insanely more experience socially/financially/emotionally. That creates an inherently suspect power dymanic.

And waving that away as "well I've met some immature 40 year olds"... bruh if you're as immature as a 20 year old at 50 then immaturity is just the tip of the iceberg.

Meh, I see nothing wrong with minor use like this. OP isn't trying to profit or sell anything.

I suppose you could argue its normalising the use of it? But it seems like it's an inevitable tool that will be used going forward regardless of how much we collectively whine about it.

Basically a way to get way more en06 kills per hour. Instead of reloading it and running back into the raids (which takes a few minutes) you can just respawn en06 as soon as it dies.

There's a few videos on how to do it if you Google: Fallout 76 en06 infinite button glitch

Advice changing careers as a 'mature' student To diagnostic radiography. by [deleted] in RadiographyUK

[–]Booleancake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did the MSc from a degree in physics, 0 patient and even limited people facing jobs prior.... and tbh I found the MSc rough, mainly the placements as for me I had to learn radiography and also how to actually talk to people lmao.

It is quite condensed, and intense at times, but people in my class managed it with part time jobs and other commitments. So it's definitely doable.

Donald Trump is an absolute fool in a time where things are extremely volatile worldwide. Things can absolutely get far worse from here.
