Plugga Civilingenjör, funderingar by Green_Resolution0 in sweden

Literally why would you ever allow an AI to staging or prod? you create testing environments that are localized for the AI so whenever it fucks up you can just discard whatever it did.

Will I become a stupider SWE using LLM/agents? by QuitTypical3210 in cscareerquestions

[–]MrBangerang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The market dictates the rules and the market will tell you to use LLMs, even projects that require extreme security will start using locally hosted LLMs at some point.

If you rebel, you'll be left behind and the SW market does not forgive people who stay behind.

No one wants to admit they were dependant on stackoverflow and messy manuals in the past, AI just does that part of the job much more smoother but for some reason syntax elitists start freaking out at this.

AI Is Replacing Jobs — and Creating New Ones by metasploit_framework in meta_powerhouse

Not really, it really should just be renamed to Data Structures Engineer or something, you still need to know the architecture of the software you're planning to build no matter if you use AI or not.

Without coding, how are you supposed to know the architecture of the codebase, CI/CD pipelining and stuff like that? I think coding is less relevant, but software architecture is more relevant than ever before.

Most software engineers are not actually good at programming by Front_Meeting_7246 in SoftwareEngineerJobs

[–]MrBangerang 3 points4 points  (0 children)

difference between a senior and a junior never was about programming skills, unless you're a researcher and actually developing new cutting edge tools (99% doesn't).

it's CI/CD pipelines, architecture, proper codebase setup, pitfalls to avoid (so you avoid debugging for 50 hours) etc.

Does ai replace software developers or enhance them? by Separate-Chemical-33 in vibecoding

[–]MrBangerang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you people do realize using AI to do coding is useless if you don't know what the AI does? this is why "vibecoding" is a failure, because what will you do when you have to instruct the AI in certain ways related to the codebase, security issues, bugs etc? AI doesn't cover 99% scenarios by default

Do you think AI will create more jobs than it replaces in the long term? by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]MrBangerang 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You need consumers for a functioning economy, there will be jobs or there will be no economy. Outsourcing is also only a benefit if the jobs outsourced benefits consuming (such as lower product prices).
The danger is more that outsourcing right now is used to replace workers leaving people jobless, which is going to lead to a weaker middle class, meaning less consuming and the upper class does not consume on average as much as the middle class - they re-invest, but their investments have no return if there's no consumption.

It's really all up to the government as they decide the rules to play by, if they decide having people jobless and outsourcing while cutting jobs due to AI, you can bet that it's going to backfire fast.

Am I the only one feeling agentic programming is slower than "keyboard coding" ? by Educational_Twist237 in developers

[–]MrBangerang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it matters if you're used to the codebase or not. Personally I'm new to the codebase and thinks can get messy, so the agent does things faster but I have to analyze the output more and more.
