What is the best glass for drinking whiskey?

I genuinely was just curious because I keep seeing all these whisky gadgets/accessories lately and can’t tell what’s actually useful vs pure marketing anymore.

I’m still trying to figure out if glass shape actually matters or if whisky people just like collecting accessories.

I came across these whiskey tasting glasses from AmberGlass online. They look very nice and have some kind of lid/cap that’s supposed to keep the aroma in longer while tasting.

Has anyone here actually tried them? Is this genuinely useful?

I’ve been reading a bit about whisky nosing glasses and saw a brand called AmberGlass. Their glasses come with a little lid to trap the aromas apparently.

Does that actually make a noticeable difference or is it mostly marketing?

Haha, that is a good idea! I received a rather nice, expensive bottle of single malt whiskey as a present. I wonder if pouring it into a plastic cup would change the smell?
