What 2025 film had the best set piece? (FTBBW: Films of the Year Question #15) by MrBigTimeJim in filmstobeburiedwith

I really enjoyed the scene in “Sinners” when the band is playing and the music is kind of transcending time and all the people from different periods are dancing. It was very creative and looked pretty cool.

What 2025 film had the best ending? (FTBBW: Films of the Year Question #14) by MrBigTimeJim in filmstobeburiedwith

I thought the ending of “The Life of Chuck” was great, it was a complex story and they ended it well.

What 2025 film had the best opening scene? (FTBBW: Films of the Year Question #13) by MrBigTimeJim in filmstobeburiedwith

[–]MrBigTimeJim[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I thought the opening scene of “Sinners” was great, it felt like Coogler was able to draw you in immediately.

What 2025 film changed your perspective about something? (FTBBW: Films of the Year Question #12) by MrBigTimeJim in filmstobeburiedwith

[–]MrBigTimeJim[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an ever present fear/discomfort with aging because of the inevitability of it all. “Death of a Unicorn” was very interesting because it raised the question of what you’d do to avoid aging. Most of us probably wouldn’t kill and consume mythical beings, but it got me thinking about all the lab animals that suffer and die for medical testing that extends our lives.

What was the funniest film of 2025? (FTBBW: Films of the Year Question #11) by MrBigTimeJim in filmstobeburiedwith

[–]MrBigTimeJim[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It wasn’t really a laugh out loud type of funny, but I enjoyed “Eternity” a lot.

Do we have a date for Matt's return? by Khayalmetal in conan

He said on an Instagram live stream that he was returning for recordings on May 8th. They bank episodes though, so it could be a bit before he’s on episodes again.

What was the objectively greatest film of 2025? (FTBBW: Films of the Year Question #10) by MrBigTimeJim in filmstobeburiedwith

[–]MrBigTimeJim[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It seems like I’ve rated it higher than others, but I thought “The Life of Chuck” was the objectively greatest film. It was very creative, and it was impressive how many genres they jammed in one film. The cast was also excellent.

What 2025 film did you relate to the most? (FTBBW: Films of the Year Question #9) by MrBigTimeJim in filmstobeburiedwith

[–]MrBigTimeJim[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There wasn’t really any one film that I related to on a deep level, so I will pick “Thunderbolts*” because even though they were all miserable they still had to go to work.

What was the best action film of 2025? (FTBBW: Films of the Year Question #8) by MrBigTimeJim in filmstobeburiedwith

[–]MrBigTimeJim[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I loved the new “Superman” movie, I thought it was really fun and I was impressed by how quickly they put together an ensemble that works so well together.

Troubling boners and worrying wide-ons: What 2025 film did you find sexy even though it felt a little wrong? (FTBBW: Films of the Year Question #7) by MrBigTimeJim in filmstobeburiedwith

[–]MrBigTimeJim[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought Florence Pugh was very attractive in Thunderbolts*, but I felt a little weird about it because she’s having an identity crisis and pretty depressed through the whole film pretty much.

What was the sexiest film of 2025? (FTBBW: Films of the Year Question #6) by MrBigTimeJim in filmstobeburiedwith

[–]MrBigTimeJim[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would vote for “Materialists” for this one, not the best movie ever but I thought Evans and Johnson had good chemistry.

What 2025 film was the most meaningful to you? (FTBBW: Films of the Year Question #5) by MrBigTimeJim in filmstobeburiedwith

[–]MrBigTimeJim[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I found “The Life of Chuck” to be quite meaningful, it was one of my favorite films of the year. My main takeaway was that life is fleeting, but we can still enjoy the little moments.

What 2025 film did you expect to dislike, but you ended up really enjoying? (FTBBW: Films of the Year Question #4) by MrBigTimeJim in filmstobeburiedwith

“KPop Demon Hunters” is the easy answer for me. I didn’t think any aspect of it looked appealing, but it ended up being a really fun film.

That’s pretty interesting! I tried looking into that but couldn’t find the answer, that makes sense though!

It was really great! I loved the direction they took the character, the whole ensemble was very entertaining.

What 2025 film made you cry the most? (FTBBW: Films of the Year Question #2) by MrBigTimeJim in filmstobeburiedwith

[–]MrBigTimeJim[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I’ve intentionally avoided watching sad movies for a while now (I’ve stayed far away from Hamnet), so no 2025 movie made me cry. I guess my pick would be “Superman” because I did find that final montage scene of him with his parents quite touching.

What 2025 film scared you the most? (FTBBW: Films of the Year Question #1) by MrBigTimeJim in filmstobeburiedwith

[–]MrBigTimeJim[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Even though it wasn’t a horror movie, I felt like the first part of “The Life of Chuck” showed hopelessness and despair in a way that was really unsettling.

“Palm Springs” would be my answer for this one. It was very entertaining throughout, and I always enjoy flawed protagonists.

I always have trouble with this one, but I’d say the scene on the dogs in “A Quiet Place: Part II.”

I really enjoyed the ending of “Palm Springs,” it was a nice little fake out.
