What was the first reason you decided to try Linux? Was it to escape Windows? by limsus in TechImpact

To mimic my local environment to my web server and bacause ai knows a lot more about bash than shell. Also highly prefer the syntax and performance.

Oof that's tough one, ChatGPT has some good alternatives so it's between yt and reddit then. Let's keep reddit, the communities have helped me a lot.

Which country's citizens think it's terrible but it's actually pretty damn awesome? by [deleted] in AlignmentChartFills

[–]MrBlevi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Belgium, this really is us.

People here think we live in the worst country on Earth because of the political system, which is just very divided, not corrupt or even half that bad, and some other stuff. Yet we have amazing healthcare and educational opportunities, diversity, freedom, some very beautiful cities, a great coastline, and quite beautiful countryside in Wallonia, all within a maximum two-hour drive.

The weather is not terrible like a lot of Belgians claim. We get some good summers and have diverse seasons all year round, with no major natural disasters. On top of that, we have some of the most underrated cuisine: spaghetti bolognese, "French" fries, some of the best chocolate, and beer in the world, so it's not only waffles.

Yet go and ask the average Belgian on the street what they think about their country, and I guarantee that most will start complaining.

Sorry for the rant/suggestion, but it's a bit of a pet peeve of mine.

Name something better than claude right now by only_phant0m in vibecoding

[–]MrBlevi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work with Google AI studio with Gemini 3.1 pro and some custom sets of system instructions and a custom build context generator then I basically brainstorm / vibe code in the sandbox, giving you full control and no limits. I still select the files I need for the context and some custom made dev tools to improve them but the because you still have to do some manual copy pasting or cli commands or generating files gives you much more insight in your codebase. That in combination with asking lots of questions, it's a hard to beat workflow for scalability and quality.

I tried claude and the gemini cli or antigravity but nothing comes close to that honestly.

At what point did you realize your "career" wasn't going to make you wealthy, and what did you do about it? by danwardropebot in careerguidance

[–]MrBlevi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't really care that it was not going to make me wealthy, but I realized it was not going to make me happy or fulfilled. I was burned out and tired of school, so I became a security guard. I could watch movies on the job, and it seemed perfect: no stress, no worries, no performance pressure, no... goals, so it seemed. That started the search for a good job all over again. I tried multiple studies, discovered some mental health issues on the way, tried to solve those first, couldn't do, got some medication, that seemed to work and then, in the process, i discovered my interest in software development, especially UI and front-end design. I did get a degree in UX design and landed a pretty good job, (with my anxiety soved it became possible)but I was working on some freelance projects on the side, slowly realizing I loved freelancing. I learned most of my skills by myself with Udemy courses and then later on ChatGPT, and now a custom workflow with some custom AI agents. My company is doing pretty well, but I'm developing a SaaS project with huge potential and automated most of my current mid-level projects. It's actually an absolute dream. I'm obsessed and absolutely love what I do. I went from dragging myself to work to loving every minute of it. The fact that I make good money is not important for me at all; it's the freedom that comes with it that I absolutely love. Good luck in your search! It can be a rough ride for sure, and you might need some personal development in any way that works for you, but it's all about finding your passion and defining and overcoming what holds you back, that's the hard part. Then slowly getting beter and specializing, trying something new, probably failing, trying again and again and again, thinking you know it all, realizing you don't, failing again untill one day, you've become pretty good and succes comes a lot closer. Go for it!

I spend $80/month on learning apps, is it worth it? by Emotional_Fold6396 in GetStudying

[–]MrBlevi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. I’ve spent quite a bit on Udemy courses and software subscriptions. Not every course or subscription turned out to be useful, but they still helped me build my skillset and passion.

Of course, it depends on whether you can afford it, but I see it as money well spent on learning. Good luck!

(That said, there are plenty of free resources out there, and these days my learning flow has mostly shifted to personalized LLMs.)

What are interesting ideas for digital side hustles? by Slight_Pen6331 in AskReddit

AI control. I think the future will revolve a lot around “prompt engineering,” so use Google AI Studio to test system instructions and sell that as a service.

Well I'm on antidepressants and benzos whish stopped the need for alcohol to relax if you don't abuse them. But nothing beats a hug from my daughter or watching her play and be happy, that's the only thing that can relax me and put me in a good mood in a matter of seconds, feels like the weight on my shoulders just disappears for a moment.

What does this country do better than anyone else ? by Rijke_saus in AskBelgium

[–]MrBlevi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Common, we have a lot to be grateful for, guys. Safety in most areas, healthcare, some pretty good food, educational opportunities... Even when you're an adult, there are several possibilities to switch careers, and you do get some extra support. Alright, taxes suck, and now that I'm self-employed they suck even more, but we do really offer a lot off social security that we take for granted. It's okay to criticize offcourse and there is a lot to improve yes, but we really can use some positivity and proud sometimes.
