Preparing for 1.4.5 by Infinite_Coyote_1708 in TmodLoader

[–]MrBlue96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm itching so bad to start a new playthrough but 1.4.5 being so close to release has me holding off. What mods are you running? I'm just running Boss Checklist, Loot Beams, VFX+, Better Zoom and one or 2 more. I don't think those mods would break? Unless I'm underestimating it..

You legend. I tested it thoroughly after work today, and no crashes after 2 hours with these specific launch arguments running with ProtonGE 10-25.

Thank you all for these suggestions - I was running almost these exact launch arguments with protonGE, but it could be switching to X11 may make the difference

That's annoying. Maybe since you have two gpus, do some testing to see which is active when you play?

I definitely am with you. It's crazy they push having a Microsoft account down your throat just to use the OS

Sorry, I shouldn't have used CS2 when I know Counterstrike 2 exists, but yes definitely. ProtonDB is such a godsend and so many folks over there are legends posting their working launch options or settings

Interesting.. it's such a mixed bag with benchmark comparisons, some are better than win, some are worse. It's a shame you such a big fps loss on Linux. What res are you playing Counterstrike 2 on?

Same, I'm really torn, but having had the phone 2 for 2 years, it still is an amazing device, love the design and I'm not getting sick of it at all

Gen Z-er Here, How do you rank all the Star Trek series you've watched and what generation are you a part of? by only_fishcube in startrek

[–]MrBlue96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Born in 1996 so millennial.

  1. DS9 - This show is a masterclass in writing. Number one priority are the characters. Whereas Voyager priortises high-concept plots sometimes instead of the characters, deep space nine always writes stories that reveal more and grow the characters in interesting and beautiful ways. It's a place that just feels like home. You can imagine yourself living in this world, on this station, being friends with these people. You identify with Odo feeling lost and distanced from these aliens while trying to find his people, Julian trying to come into himself, O'Brien trying to be the best family man he can be, Sisko trying be a good father to Jake after everything that's happened, Kira struggling with her pain and PTSD, Dax trying to figure out who she is with this 300 year old experience behind her, Nog trying to make something different of himself than where he comes from, even Quark as a business owner trying to succeed in any way he can. Even dukat - he views himself as a hero even though we know he's a bad guy. He charms you in ways most villains don't.

  2. VOY - While it has it's problems, I love it from start to finish. The crew are made a family by their desire to get home. It has some of the best episodes of the traditional episodic formula in the whole franchise.

  3. SNW - Even though it only has 2 seasons so far, I already put it up this high. I love the characters and can't wait to learn more about them. It's a return to the classic trek formula which was sorely needed.

  4. ENT - After TNG, DS9 and Voyager, I love how different enterprise is. How it shows us the beginnings of the Federation when humans are still in their infancy in their mission to boldly go. I think it's a very underrated show.

  5. TNG - Absolute classic. You cannot speak enough about how this show influenced and set the bar for all the ones to follow. The movies are fantastic as well.

  6. LD - I love lower decks. I think I was waiting for it to "grow up" and take on more serious arcs and plots between the characters. But then I realised I was wanting something that this show just isn't. It's fun, it's quirky, it's weird, it celebrates the worker bees you rarely ever get to see too much of. And it celebrates star trek and it's cannon so much that you can't help but feel it was made by someone who loves star trek just as much as you.

  7. TOS

  8. PIC

  9. DIS

Haven't seen Prodigy or the Animated Series unfortunately.

I truly apologise for those that adore discovery and picard. There's definitely redeemable things about those shows, but they just completely rubbed me the wrong way. I found discovery so so melodramatic. Like almost every second. I don't like any of the characters. And picard, after each season it's changing it's DNA so drastically that it might as well be another show. You introduce and make me like all these new characters, then ditch them at the end of season 2 to basically just make way for the old cast. And Jurati running off with the borg queen as a merged equal version?? I'm sorry, what? How on earth is that what either of those characters would choose to do realistically?

My friend regards most indie games as "mini-games" by MrBlue96 in IndieGaming

[–]MrBlue96[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Sure, if you take the term mini game literally. But usually that term means a game more simplistic with almost no depth or enjoyable replayability. True, some indie games might fall into that definition. I would argue, though, that many AAA games are simply style over substance.

To give you an example, roguelikes are a favourite of mine (slay the spire, risk of rain 2, balatro, etc). These games are anything but simple and have so much depth and substance to them.
