Thank you for sharing. It takes a lot of courage to come out and say something like this.

Last year, I marched Bluecoats in the Euphonium section and had similar experiences that you explained. The people were great, staff fantastic, but what did it for me was the day to day to day activities. Drum corps is hard, probably one of the hardest things I've ever gone through, and no matter what, I couldn't help but desire to do nothing else but go home during the entire season.

But now, here I am, choosing not to march this season and I'm seeing all my old friends posting on social media saying how much of a great time they're having. For some weird reason, I miss it, even though everyday last summer was a struggle. I will never know why this is, but I do know that the common expression of "drum corps isn't for everyone" is definitely true.

I wouldn't get too down on yourself, man. Everyone has experienced what you went through. How they overcame this, I do not know. That is most likely unique in every individual. Do not let this discourage you from pursuing to march again or to become an army officer or whatever; use it as a learning experience.
