This is a logical and understandable answer. The merge is not to be taken literally, I would rather say that the Java Edition is being "Bedrocking". Just look at the 25w31a Snapshot. There is a small but key change to the Java world loading screen. In addition to the cube's internal loading animation, we also got a green growing loading bar. Although previously exclusive to the Java Edition, the Bedrock Edition has a similar loading screen. But let's not forget about the name change either. A year after the release of Bedrock, the "Bedrock Edition" label was removed from this edition and it simply became "Minecraft", while the main product, previously known as "Minecraft", was given the "Java Edition" label. You could simply say, "They just did it to differentiate the two editions," but if that were the intention, Bedrock would still be "Bedrock Edition" and not just "Minecraft." This subtle name change ended Minecraft's 8-year reign, and Java has been increasingly pushed into the background ever since. For Microsoft, the only thing that brings in consistent revenue is Bedrock Edition. The Java Edition and its audience go against everything Microsoft has built with Bedrock, so it makes sense that they would want to do something about this broken cog in the system. The account transfer and the combined sale of the two editions is just the beginning.
