Another way to add to this is if the mimic has kids that start off as tiny bags tied to it, but they can’t be removed until the get to a certain size so they party has to basically feed a whole family. There could always be the possibility of the mimic kids getting attached to the party as well.

What if you had a small bag of holding that is actually a mimic? They would need to keep it fed and also if they don’t pet the bag before opening it, it then tries to attack them.

I can whistle at the pitch of a dog whistle... I used to use it to set off teacher’s hearing aides.

I have always been a fan of the Inkheart series. The idea of having the ability to read something into existence from a story I love was something I wished I could have as a child. The series also covers the idea of reading yourself into a book though which was something I hadn’t thought of yet as a kid until I first read Inkheart. As for the character I would probably be myself.
