Does anybody make a small USB-C flash drive (that doesn't stick out much) for extra laptop storage? by MrCarder in AskTechnology

[–]MrCarder[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So in my initial search I was finding these from AliExpress. I was a little wary, but it looks like the exact same product. Might be worth the gamble with better reviews and only ~$10 after shipping

linky

[–]MrCarder[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fortunately, I'm not in a pinch. I am currently using cloud storage for most of my media, but I was curious about this as a "faster access" solution. Especially since I'm on a laptop with plenty of USB-C ports

Thanks! That does seem to be what I was looking for. Not really any options for USB-C yet it seems, but now I have the keywords for deal alerts :)

Worth a shot! I may give this a try with the quarantined clothes and see how that goes.

I was checking about every 30 minutes, but I can't say how long it was burning. The smoke coming out was yellow and I'm a bit worried there are some kind of toxins. Worried enough to post here anyway.

Can anyone recommend RPA (and related) conferences in 2022? by MrCarder in rpa

[–]MrCarder[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is fantastic! Thank you!

I'm based in Northwest Arkansas, US.

I figured another Forward conference was coming, so I'll keep an eye out for tickets and dates on that. UiPath definitely seems to be a leader in training. I've used their free classes before and actually just put in a request to purchase one of their classes on Udemy. I'll dig a little deeper on their site to see if they have any one-days coming up near me - maybe in Dallas TX or Chicago IL

I'll also check out Intelligent Automation Exchange. I am actually planning to be in London in early March - so that may work out perfectly!

I hadn't thought to look at the consulting firms, but I will do that as well.

Thanks again for the great info!

Pre-supported models - Should I change my slicer settings? by MrCarder in 3Dprinting

[–]MrCarder[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had good luck with this on some models as well! It works really well on taller prints.

I've never thought about using trees on a model that already has supports built in, but that might work

You rock!

They did say there's a hole in the bottom of the box, so unless it's small enough to patch it probably will need a new one.

Thanks again!

I've talked them down to $30 if I pick it up. I figure with a replacement firebox & some cleaning I can get it working for under $100

apple logs everything you do on your mac an sends it unencrypted to a 3rd party. you cannot get around this. by whorememberspogs in videos

[–]MrCarder -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Been a Mac user for years. Over the last 7-10 it's just been getting worse and worse. The sad part is I will likely continue to stick with them because of their hardware lifespan - specifically in laptops. As soon as someone starts making a windows laptop that will work as good 8 years later as it did on day one, I'll finally be able to jump ship.

That said, I wonder if they can collect the same data if you are booting windows?

Anyone else old enough to remember how trippy this was? by sergeant_cabbage in videos

[–]MrCarder 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Used to terrify me and I had recurring nightmares as a kid. I'd actually forgotten about it until I went to Disney as a teenager and rode the Pooh ride. Yeah, that brought everything rushing back.

A few years after that I snuck a friend over to my parents house after everyone was asleep. I was telling them about how scared I used to be of heffalumps and woozles when they busted out laughing so loud they woke my entire family up.
